Should I make a fb group for Western SLP '23? That way we can stay connected, share thoughts, opinions, and possibly find roommates, among other things :) Let me know what you guys think

Hey Jelenaa, congrats on your acceptance! There is already a group called Western SLP Class of 2023 on Facebook. :) Here is the link: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1368580500182132

  2. Hey everyone! I just firmly accepted my offer from Western! ? Ahh! It feels so real now! Good luck to everyone who is still making decisions, and who are still waiting to hear back/get off the waitlist (there should be some spots opening up at McMaster, UofT, and uOttawa now that I've declined those offers!) If anyone else is planning to go to Western please feel free to PM me, I would love to get to know everyone! Also, does anyone know if there is a Facebook group for Western's SLP Class of 2023 yet?

You're referring to uozone right? They have a broadcast message saying there were issues between 8 to 9am today, my portal appears fine so you can double check yours now

I really hope they don't delay the admission offers like they did last year (according to 2020 forum)!!

Yes, thank you! My uozone portal looks like its back to normal now. And I also really hope that they don't delay it like last year and that we hear from them soon! Good luck! :)

That seems crazy high especially as just the average for interviews! I saw on the forum that previous years it was like a 3.8ish so that feels like a big jump I wonder why it went up so much.

My guess is that since the interviews were held online this year and people didn't need to travel to McMaster's campus for the interview, there was probably less people that declined the interview offer compared to previous years.

Ever since I found out we will know at midnight EST, I have been going back and fourth as to whether I will check that night or the morning. Although I go to bed at 10:00pm each night (I know I am a Grandma) so I could easily avoid checking. But I am not sure so we shall see!! I just have my fingers crossed that I get accepted!

    Good luck to you!!

Haha! I also go to bed pretty early, so staying up until midnight might be a struggle for me, especially since I have an 8:30 class the next morning, but I'm way too impatient to wait!

    Hey!

I want to say congratulations to all those who have received acceptances, it is well deserved. For those still waiting to hear back, hang on tight we got this.

As April 1st is slowly creeping around the corner I'm both anxious and excited!! Since I live in BC I will most likely will find out my applications result at 9:00 pm PST on Wednesday, but I don't know if I'm the only one that's gonna do this, but I don't think I will check until Thursday morning. Mainly because no matter what the verdict is I will not sleep the night I check. Hopefully my curiosity doesn't get the better of me and I can hold off until the morning but I don't know at this point!

Good luck to everywhere still waiting to hear back!!

    Pav!

Haha! I admire your restraint! I know that there is no way that I will be able to sleep on Wednesday anyways, so I am planning on staying up till midnight and checking my portals obsessively. Lol. ?

I'm in the 2020 McGill cohort and got off the waitlist quite late in the summer (I think around July)! I would say don't discount the possibility of moving up on the waitlist and potentially getting offered a spot. I also feel like it's better not knowing your exact position on the waitlist, because good news can come when you least expect it! :)

Thanks for sharing this information! :) Would you mind sharing how many people are in your cohort? I was able to find some information that stated that McGill's program had about 27 spots, but it's been hard finding any information provided directly from McGill, so I am not sure if that number is outdated or not.

Do you know where to find that info?
I remember coming across a website where they listed how many applied and how many were accepted for universities across Canada (for PT, OT, and SLP) but I've lost track of it. I wanted to share with a friend who's looking to apply! Thanks :)

Hey! I could only find a website on ORPAS with all the Ontario schools that talked about how many applied/accepted for OT/PT/SLP (https://www.ouac.on.ca/guide/orpas-program-requirements/). But, I found a different website with a very helpful spreadsheet for most of the SLP programs in Canada (https://reachforthespeech.com/slp-spreadsheet/).

  9. For those on the waitlist at McGill, when I signed up for the Open House I asked them how many people typically get placed on their waitlist not really expecting to get a response, but they actually replied with this: "Hi thank you for registering for our open house! We noticed that you had a question about the waitlist. We typically place 20-30 applicants on the waitlist. It is ranked as per the outcome of our file review. Looking forward to seeing you at the open house. " I'm so happy someone was finally willing to give us some information about McGill's waitlist! It isn't as long as I had feared. Hopefully this also brings some reassurance to the rest of you on the waitlist as well! Good luck to everyone!

    Hi there!

Just wanted to say hello. Currently waiting for responses from McGill and OttawaU ☺️.  Kinda confused with McGills process haha but yeah I still havent received anything.

Does anyone know when OttawaU usually comes out with responses?

    Good luck to everyone!!

Hey! I think Ottawa usually send out responses on April 1st like all the other Ontario schools, but last year I guess they were behind and it seems like they emailed all the applicants saying that their decision would be delayed until April 7th. Since we haven't heard anything from Ottawa this year, I'm hoping that we will still hear from them on April 1st! :) (I'm so sick of all this waiting, lol!) Good luck to you too!

    Thanks for this info!

For those of you who received a waitlist email yesterday, would you mind sharing what time you received the email at? I'm curious if it's an automatic email that was all sent at the same time to all of those individuals who received one, or if they sent them individually one at a time. I think this might give an idea on how they might do it on Monday/next week.

    Maybe I'm just overthinking/eager, haha ?

I received the email at 9:02AM. Try not to stress too much! ?
