  1. Thank you!! I’m really excited to see where it takes me, I feel like it’s the right choice and I can’t wait to move out there. And yes, it was IU Bloomington! I interviewed for the fibers program back in early February. I was put under a pretty early time crunch from another program that was offering me funding, so I reached out to IU to check the status of my application. I was told my place on the waitlist and that helped me make a decision about my other offers. Indiana has a fantastic program and everyone that I interacted with during the application process was beyond kind, so I wouldn’t be nervous about reaching out if that is what you’re considering! I hope all goes well for you!
  2. finally heard back from the last of my programs, waitlisted at UC Berkeley, Indiana university, and UIC. But I’ve already accepted an amazing offer from university of Oregon, full tuition remission and a teaching position and I truly could not be happier with my choice! this process is so tough mentally and can be the root of a lot of impostor syndrome, but to all of those still waiting I wish you the best of luck!! You’ve got what it takes, try to remember that in the tough times
  3. accepted to the university of Oregon!
  4. has anyone heard from university of Illinois Chicago yet? It’s been radio silence since I applied in December and it’s the last one I’m holding out for
  5. It is strange! In all honesty I’m not sure it is the right place for me in the long run, but it’s been my dream school for a while and I applied on a whim, so I’m taking it as a win to even get an interview! And also taking it as a win to get to talk to Stephanie because I really love her work this whole process is so confusing lol
  6. fully can’t process this rn because I thought I would never hear back from them, but I just got an interview request from UC Berkeley!! ?
  7. Personally, I asked about covid in both of my interviews. I framed it in more of a question based on how our covid reality has changed the way their program functions. I checked the schools website and read up on their official covid protocols, so I wasn’t really curious about that, just more of how the actual art department has altered the way the function to best serve graduate students during this time. I found that both times I got some deeper insight on how they have made their programs worthwhile when things are vastly different, and I personally felt like the question was received positively. I really just want to know what I would be getting into, and I think all of the schools are expecting that! It wasn’t the first question I asked, sort of just tacked onto the end because both of my interviewers were able to go past the allotted time I was scheduled.
  8. just had my interview with the university of oregon and I feel really good about how it went! anyone else interview with them?
  9. also waiting on u michigan and feeling a lil dejected!
  10. I totally understand the feeling, but try to not worry about it! I have an interview next week that is just audio as well, so it definitely isn’t unheard of. I try to think of it as an advantage, the pressure of looking presentable is off the table! It also gives you more of a chance to look through your notes. It is such an accomplishment to get an interview and it means that the school is interested in seeing how you would fit in there. You’ll do great!!
  11. just got an interview request from univ of oregon, and was accepted to kent state last night!
  12. it depends really! I would say that maybe two grad students a semester teach a foundations level course (drawing, design, sculpture). More often that not grad students are teaching assistants, which can be for art history too! That’s mostly grading and proctoring exams and less actual class instruction time. In my time there I had two grad student led classes, both freshman year foundations.
  13. I did my undergrad at UNCG if you have any questions about the program!
