UM YES THE FIRST PART. it should definitely be okay to be heartbroken, especially during this crazy cycle! And it definitely is hard as an academic to separate yourself from your successes in academia. EVEN IF YOU DONT HAVE AN ACCEPTANCE, it doesn’t mean anything about YOU! And if you do have an acceptance but it’s not your top choice, same freaking thing. We’re all on here checking on our futures, we all care, we’re all intelligent, and it truly is their loss.

We are in the same boat, UMich and UChicago are my top choices ?? but hey we got one!!!!!! Thankfully. Lol

Congrats to all the Michigan acceptances....I guess I’m still just in shock that I applied to 15 schools and I’m really only going to be accepted to one...I am happy about the one but it is still very disheartening.

I also applied to University of Oregon and have not heard anything!

So true. I didn’t even think of it like that! I think at the end of the day it’s all about fit; at least that’s what I’ve been seeing.

Due to so many top programs suspending their admissions, do you think that being accepted to a lower ranked school (40s-50s) is going to be more acceptable? Just in your opinion!

How many people here have a masters? It’s starting to frighten me about going straight to a PhD from undergrad...seems like a lot of people already have their masters ?

I guess....this is a professor I interviewed with so I doubt he’d say something that generic to me like an administrator would. But maybe!

I'm told by the Dean's office that you should receive an official update on your status sometime early next week, at which point the department can follow up with additional details. this is from UChicago, what do you guys think this means? I would think a reject would need no additional details...

If someone hears from UChicago today please let me know I am going insane....
