  1. Thanks for all the views guys, it is a difficult one. I think, despite the valid points from Theory007, I am going to go for Oxbridge. I decided that, at the end of the day, I need to do what is best for my progression, and what I feel comfortable with. Wishing everyone all the best with their endeavours!
  2. Hi all! So, I need some advice. I was given a fully funded PhD offer at a good London university, which I accepted back in January (along with signing a contract confirming my acceptance). I have now been given full funding at a very prestigious Oxbridge college for a DPhil. Of course, I want to accept Oxbridge – will the fact that I have already accepted an offer somehow void my current offer/mean I can't take it? Can I reject my old offer now and accept my new one? I am seriously anxious about this and could do with some objective opinions!
  3. Thanks to everyone who gave me their insights on the UCL/US career prospects topic! Very helpful. Also, as per the question of someone who did a UK PhD -> US Postdoc -> US TT – I can think of Chiara Cordelli at Chicago (PhD UCL - Posdoc Stanford – TT Chicago) but only one I know off the top of my head!
  4. Hi everyone, New to the forum but a semi- long time reader; I have a question for those of you from the US. I have been offered (and have now accepted) a 4-year funded doctoral scholarship at UCL. However, I am worrying that going to UCL may make it harder to work in the US post-graduation because it is relatively unknown to academics in the States. My question is: how well known/well regarded is UCL in the US? How does it stack up in the imagination compared to schools there (Compared to Ivies/R1 etc.)? Finding good answers on this is difficult, so thought I would put the feelers out on here. Also happy to give the following: Acceptances from LSE, UCL, and Warwick (all Politics/Political Science – just in case anyone was wondering).
