Looks like a fiction acceptance (full finding) went up today as well. Hopefully we get some news in the next couple of days!
-
So the wait continues! Thanks for filling me in. ?

Thanks for the update!

Hoping for good news for you! I think it’s not unusual for them to send out rejections later on in the cycle. I don’t know what the justification is, but it seems like certain schools will send out acceptances in mid feb, for example, and then the rejections will start popping up closer to the notification deadline in April. It makes me grateful I found this site. Otherwise I’d still be holding onto hope for ASU!

Saw one Montana CNF acceptance on the results page. Anyone know anything about their history in terms of dishing out offers? I applied to the poetry concentration so I’m not panicking just yet. Well, only a little.
-
Wow! That’s really exciting! I hope that means good news for you! I only applied to the MFA, and got some sort of student code to log in to their system in January or early February, but it said nothing indicative of a welcome or acceptance. Do let me know if you hear anything else! I’m at the edge of my seat. ❤️

Thank you. I haven’t been up there in years but it seems nice. I do wish there were less confusing application update / Admissions emails. I got a, “We’re excited to welcome you in the fall!” email this week from a school I’ve been all but formally rejected from, and it cut me deep. Best of luck on your other apps! I’m sure good news is around the corner.

I got my Miami acceptance at the end of January, and they have been sending out emails to the cohort to plan for new grad student welcome/information meetings next week. Based on that, I assume they have sent out all their acceptances, so definitely check your portal to see if they’ve got anything new on your app status! I’m new to this process so I have no idea if they do this all at once or in waves. Good luck to you!
-
Thank you! I’ll do the same! Can’t wait to hear back from them.

I’m glad to see folx getting some love today! Congratulations to all of you, and good luck to those still waiting on answers. I’m wondering if anyone else in this community applied to UAF. If so, anyone know anything about their timeline? I got an email at the beginning of February that my (perhaps all) application had been sent to the department for review, but nothing since. Not surprised by that, but I feel like I see less info rolling around about this program than any of the others I applied to. Again, not surprised, as I don’t imagine many folx are keen on living Yukon adjacent. ?

Yeah, that’s the part that really got me amped up! I know it’s got to be difficult keeping all the facets of a large university in sync, but damn. You only get to break my heart once!

I just got a marketing email from Arizona State about planning ahead for the fall semester. I allowed myself to get excited for a split second, and then remembered the implied rejection since they made calls Friday. Feeling the sting all over again! Gonna go fall into a pile of snow...

I am a first-timer. I’m 27 - will be 28 by the time school starts in the fall. Not married, no kids, so I recognize the logistics are a little simpler for me. I’m mostly scared about money (little to no savings, unemployed), but I know I can get by on modest income. So as long as I get a job offer soon and make it through these next few months, I think I’ll be ok on a stipend. I’ve also never lived outside my current tristate area. My family is the type to stay put, and I only started traveling around age 25. Needless to say I’m pretty excited for a new adventure.

I didn’t receive this email. So, could be a reason for you to be hopeful? Good luck!

I struggled with this, too. I think with the space limitations and all the things I wanted to cover, it was really difficult to go over anything with the depth and sincerity I intended. Sometimes I look at the various versions I turned in and worry that committees will read them and say, “Ok, but who the heck are you?” I also think we’re being hard on ourselves and our SOPs are in reality really wonderful. Waffling between these sentiments rapidly.
-
I think honesty in your SOP is so important, both for you and for the adcom. I think you made a good choice, and I’m wishing you the best!

I mentioned a couple poets and novelists who I feel connected to, and who have encouraged me to ask harder questions about my own writing and what the hell I’m doing with it. I remember being cautioned against mentioning only popular dead authors. First, because lots of people are going to mention them, but also because it’s helpful to show adcoms that you’ve got some awareness of and interest in what’s currently happening in the literary community. I don’t know how important or accurate that is, but the folx who gave me that advice all have MFAs. Of course, I don’t think it would be helpful advice to follow if it causes someone to veer from their truth. If popular dead guys are the ones who have influenced or impressed or informed a person’s writing the most, I personally feel that applicants should be allowed to share that, and maybe just be sure to show in their writing sample how they are growing/changing/creating from it. That said, how I personally feel about admissions strategies means absolutely nothing. And I have no way of actually knowing how they feel about the influences applicants mention. Just scraping together bits and pieces of anecdotal and subjective evidence and making big ol’ assumptions over here.
-
Let us commiserate. I didn’t expect it to hurt so much either! I’m hopeful that we’ll both have good news to come. Best of luck to you!
-
Got it. Thanks for sharing! Congratulations on your acceptance! What a way to end the week ?
-
Congratulations! That’s so exciting! Do you mind my asking how long ago you got your call? I want to gage how long I should hold my breath. Haha.
-
Thanks for the update! Do you know if it was for a specific genre, or if they’re calling all accepted applicants regardless of genre?
-
It might not be as common, but it can definitely be an acceptance. That’s how I was notified of an acceptance from Miami (OH). When I went to check the update I had to select an embedded link and there was a “Congratulations!” letter from the graduate college. I got an acceptance letter via email from the actual CW program the following day. I think it sometimes just depends on the timing, and who is getting to what tasks when. I’m sure it’s also heavily dependent on the school. But I say all this to say, don’t give up hope if you see a portal update email! It just might be good news

MySlice looks that way for me as well. Someone posted earlier that they were told Syracuse wouldn't be sending notifications until late March or early April. That seems way late based on what I've seen for past years (did a search of the results page), but if it's accurate we've got a bit of a wait ahead of us! I don't have any insight on the other schools, but I wish you all the best with each of them! I know the wait can be maddening, but here's hoping we don't have to wait much longer!
