  1. Yeah, I really should just reach out. I know with UAF it was a system error (wasn’t prompting folx to upload unofficials, so I had to email them in to admissions), and I’ve received confirmation from two others that my app was sent on to the department for review. I guess if I just ask then I won’t have to wonder!
  2. Does anyone else have schools on their list that stated official transcripts aren’t required unless you’re accepted, and yet the application says “awaiting” or “not received” under transcripts? I know it makes sense for the graduate college side of things to keep track of what materials they need to collect should students receive an acceptance. But boy it’s got me scared I was misinformed and needed to send in the officials for my application to be sent over to the department for review. I suppose a simple phone call or email could solve my problem here, but I feel like there’s not much I could do about it now, and would rather remain hopeful that I’m just overthinking as usual!
  3. Saw this Tweet from MFA Writers Podcast. I think it’s great advice for the coming weeks. Best wishes to all of y’all! “As MFA decision letters start to roll in, two reminders: 1. Be kind to yourself. Your personhood is unrelated to a program decision. 2. Be kind to others. Your safety school is another person's dream school.“
  4. Thanks for the details! It sounds like a great experience aside from the pandemic-related drawbacks. As someone with a lot of interest in comp and rhet, it seems like a solid choice for me. edit: also, 7/8 - that’s amazing!
  5. Hey! I just got an acceptance from Miami and I’m interested in hearing more perspectives on the program from current students. I have a friend who did the low-res and really loved/cherished her cohort and overall experience. Can you speak to the spirit of the program (residential), and any positives/negatives? Thanks for posting, and good luck with your apps!
  6. Thanks for putting this together. Really helpful, and a nice reminder not to rush the days along. They’re getting here sooner than I expected - I feel like I just submitted my applications!
  7. Thank you! It's definitely reassuring. I hadn't let myself get too hopeful, so I'm feeling especially grateful right now.
  8. Congratulations! Me too. I suppose this means we could maybe possibly be classmates come fall!
  9. I've been accepted to Miami University in Oxford, OH (residential MFA - poetry)! The graduate college updated my applicant status and provided a letter on Thursday, then an email with attached details came through from the department on Friday. I wasn't expecting to hear back from anyone so soon and it took me by surprise. I even sent the letter from the graduate college to one of my recommenders for verification. It was, indeed, a legitimate acceptance. I'm now waiting on word from five other schools. If I somehow end up with options, I've got no clue what I'll do. Until now, I hadn't thought to plan for it!
