Today I’m wishing I knew more about Alaska’s funding situation. I got an acceptance email from admissions on Saturday that said a formal acceptance letter would follow shortly, but I’ve not heard anything yet. Hoping something comes through when they hit business hours today, but I’m so antsy over here waiting.

Does anyone here have one of the fully funded offers (poetry) from Montana? Or has anyone seen anyone post about it on Draft? I’m in, but I’m top of the waitlist for funding. I’m dying to know if a spot will open up. Please let me know if you’re out there and comfortable discussing your plan - I am eager to reclaim my sanity. Thank you!

I didn't apply to these schools but I came real close to sending in an app to LSU. Really regretting not doing so now. Anyway, I've been keeping an eye out for their results in an effort to further torture myself. Noticed a fiction acceptance (via phone) posted yesterday. Are you referring to UAF? I noticed that was an option there, and found it really cool. Still anxiously awaiting a response from them (just the MFA for me).

It’s such a tricky position. I truly don’t want to put anyone else into this predicament, but I’m currently not willing to give up hope that funding will come through, or that I’ll get off the waitlist. Can I ask what schools you’re accepted/waitlisted at? No worries if you don’t want to share!

As we inch ever closer to that April 15th deadline, I’m wondering how folx plan on handling accepting/denying when they are hoping to come off a waitlist. I’ve got one fully funded offer, one acceptance with waitlisted funding, and two waitlists for admission. While I want to be considerate to those on the waitlist for the school I’ve gotten a good offer from, I am really hoping in coming off of one of my own waitlists. What happens if I wait until 4/15, don’t hear anything from my waitlists, accept the one full offer I’ve got, and then get a call from my preferred school the next day? Are my hands tied? Am I bound to the program I committed to reluctantly not a full day prior? I realize this is a pretty sweet position to be in, and I will be honored and excited to go to any of the schools I applied to. But man, it’ll suck to commit to one and then hear back shortly after from my dream school. It feels like a vicious cycle, as the folx I’m waiting on to decline their offers (so I can have them) are likely waiting on the very same thing from some other lucky person at some other awesome program. Advice, thoughts, slaps of reality welcome.

I got waitlisted via email last week. They basically said they don’t share waitlist rankings outside the top three, and that those people were notified specifically. There are five acceptances per genre so I’m guessing outside those accepted and those in the top three waitlist spots, the rest of us are pretty much getting a “thanks but no”. Lol.

There's a mixed bag of rejections and waitlists on the results page - no acceptances listed, though. Maybe no news is good news in this case?

Definitely helpful! Thanks for sharing. I’m sorry to hear about Minnesota - sounds like you were really close. I’m really excited about the waitlist I’m on, but I’ve had trouble gauging the popularity of the program, so I’m not sure how likely it is that folx will turn their offers down. I may let them know about my other offer if we get real close to the deadline. It’s going to feel awful accepting an offer with some possibility for my preferred school still lingering out there. I feel like I’ve just got some investigating to do! Good luck to you this cycle. Am I correct in remembering that you have an offer or two at this point? I’m real bad with these usernames.

As we get further along here, I’m wondering if anyone knows how often folx get in off waitlists. Surely a lot of it’s dependent upon school and luck - how many other offers the people ahead of you got, how many people have your school as their top school, that kind of thing. But I’m wondering if it’s a common occurrence. Anyone have any real life firsthand or secondhand intel on this?

Syracuse rejection just came through. Despite knowing this was my least likely option, I’m feeling the sting. Getting my hair cut later, so I might do something rash. TBD.
