Just checked my email from last year's application. I got a rejection on Saturday 29th February at 11pm PT. This was an email telling me a decision has been made on the portal, which then showed a decision letter explaining many applicants etc etc ?

I imagine mass email to everyone on Friday as well? Makes sense for POI to follow up directly if interviewed but also then makes more sense for standard Stanford acceptance for those not interviewed? than a POI emailing someone for the first time?

Don't ever apologise, it's ok to feel down and nervous. I can say it's not that your experience is 'not enough' it's never about whether it's 'enough' but more a right fit for that professor and what they are studying. For example, so many brilliant students are rejected from Stanford but accepted into other amazing programs instead because they fit the department or the specific professor's availability, or even funding decisions can impact this.

I had an interview but not by my listed POI but the interview probably did not go well so feel too scared to ask.

they wrote 'Emailed POI asking about any decision update. So, so excited!' Could that person please ask their POI when we will find out, not brave enough to do this
