I just got notified that my account had been updated and it was my aid! Assuming they will be trickling in but hopefully some of you got some updates as well!

Same here! I got an extra bump of $3k for the fall semester (presumably renewable the following fall).

Congratulations to the both of you! How long did it take before you guys heard back from McCourt?/

Curious to see if anyone is also caught between Georgetown MSFS and SIPA MIA. Are these programs similarly regarded? How do the network and job opportunities compare?

I realize how lucky I am to be in this position, but I'm super new to this grad school thing so I'd appreciate any sense of strengths and weaknesses.

Seconded. Wondering how folks rate the two programs. I am an international applicant looking to stay back in the US for a few years (ideally at a multilateral agency working on the intersection of conflict prevention and development). Funding from both institutions has been similar.

Tufts Fletcher is another school - for very different reasons (and some very unique to Fletcher) that hasn't fully postured itself for the future of Policy/IR careers to be future/COVID proof - granted their administration is trying hard. COVID just hit them where it hurts. I wrote about this at length in the forum previously as well.

McCourt is hampered by the decisions they consciously made or refuse to make about their program.

If you show me how HKS, Harris, SPIA or Heinz had comparable drops, I would buy your pitch (not saying it is wrong, but I would like more evidence to be convinced given how the MBA numbers are so different).

Thanks a bunch for your insights! Was curious to know your take on the MSFS-MPP dual degree v/s SIPA MIA? Assuming after scholarships the costs for the two programs are the same.

Did you apply before or after the priority deadline? If after, they're likely still reviewing those apps.

Yes. And I've been in touch with Julie on a regular basis too.

Side note: Grad admissions emailed me last Thursday asking for proof of degree. Do you think they may be delayed because of that particular requirement?

Just got in to SIPA MIA! Pretty good financial aid too. I hope you guys got in as well!

    Congratulations!!

I think this settles it. Either letters are being sent out in waves or we didn't make the cut. Thanks for letting us know btw

noooo!! I know I can't sleep today! (Living in East Asia)

Yes me too!! And the worst part is having to do it again on Monday night (for you and I) in case today is not the day.

Cannot deal with this anxiety and stress much longer. They have very concerning physical manifestations ?

Guys, they've never done it in waves before, and there are enough users on here that its really unlikely that it would just be one guy with an admit if they did. So either they've become SPIA like in terms of selectivity, or the the one guy claiming an acceptance is an extreme outlier.

    That's a very fair assessment!

    four of us

    woohoo! we're a team!!!

btw, did you all submit the application in Feb or is this early decisions ?

This solidarity is comforting! Any of y'all waiting for MSFS as well?

I submitted mine on Jan 5.

  10. They do not usually do it in waves. This is a marked deviation from their previous policy. I guess a possible explanation is that admitted students receive decisions in the first wave followed by the waitlisted and rejects. Another one could be that those who are sure to be admitted receive their admits first. The 'in between' candidates may have to wait slightly longer. This change in policy could be due to higher applications this year along with potential deferrals from the previous academic year.
