I received a simple extract from an essay / policy brief. The questions were pretty straightforward. 2 objective data questions and 4-5 subjective questions. I wasn't asked anything outside the case study though. Not about myself, the course, nothing! Not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing. ?

Hey, congratulations! When did they inform you about financial aid? I applied for MPP in mid December and got an acceptance on 1 Feb. Still no news on the waiver front tho'. P.S. Haha, I got rejected for the IGYLF scholarship if that counts. -

I had applied to IDS on 19 December but because the university was shut for holidays then, the application got processed only on 4 January (which was the first day after they resumed). I got accepted on 20 January so they're fairly quick with their decision. If you applied in the first week of February and your referees sent their LORs as well, you should hear by the end of next week. Sussex doesn't really have any scholarships for Indians. I had applied for Chevening in November but didn't get selected. What about you? Any scholarships in mind for Sussex? Congratulations! I have been accepted at Hertie as well for MPP! Tough decision -- choosing between the two! -

French? IHEID makes you mandatorily take French classes before and during your course. So won't have much say there. -

Oh, right -- that! Completely forgot about it. Yeah, with LKY, Munk, LSE etc, no? I'd seen it earlier but I'm not sure about it. Personally, I'm more keen on spending two years in a single place. Don't mind doing a dual degree in one place though, if that's an option. -

Hertie School 2021 Applications
The_Immigrant_Albatross replied to Ranim Munshi's topic in Waiting it Out
I've applied for their MDev programme. Waiting impatiently to hear back. Their website says mid March, some people were told they'd hear back in the first half of March, whereas the application portals mentions second half of March. So I really don't know what and when to expect. ? -

Hey Aman, have you applied to IHEID Geneva as well? Their MIA is supposed to be excellent! -
Hmmm, yeah, no student loan for me either. Doesn't make sense to have to pay it back with ~10% interest or whatever. Northern places in the UK will be relatively cheaper (Edinburgh, York, Manchester, etc). Also, if money is a concern, won't UK make more sense given that their courses are all 1y? Lol! I'm hoping for a global experience as well. Although I've applied to LKY as well since Singapore is as global as it gets in Asia, so there's that. Ahh, okay! Thanks, mate. All the best to you too!

Hahaha! Yeah, fair's fair! Same here, it's a huge amount! Don't want to dig into my parents' savings and all. But even if I get a 50% waiver (which itself seems like a long shot), I'll be super happy! I've applied for MPP and Dev Studies both and still waiting to hear back from all (including scholarships etc.) My current MO is to wait and hope for the best. What about you? Where all have you applied? Also, what's your profile?

Hey! I had applied for the IGYLF scholarship and heard back earlier today. Didn't get selected. They'll be releasing their financial aid decisions sometime in the next two weeks, so I'm hoping I get something! *fingers crossed!*

Opinions on UK schools for master's in public policy
The_Immigrant_Albatross replied to sk2022's question in Questions and Answers
York is supposed to be very good. My sister works at ILO and she said that they often take research help from the faculty there. Imo, UK and US are both unparalleled irrespective of the course/stream, but personally, I feel it doesn't make sense to do an MPP from UK as the courses are all 1y only! More so, given the pandemic, the cultural / non-academic exposure will already be limited, so might as well do it for 2y elsewhere. -

Hi Sukriti! I've been accepted for the MA Development Studies programme at IDS. Also applied to a few other places (Development Studies and Public Policy) and waiting to hear back from all places before deciding. What about you?
