Is there anyone who's accepted an offer but still hasn't notified the other schools they aren't going to that they are declining their offer?
I heard it's important to let the other schools know before April 15th so the flow of admissions offers isn't locked up (i.e., schools waiting for you to tell them you are declining their offer before moving down the wait list to make new offers). I get we have until 4/15 to notify, but why let the clock run out when there might be students waiting for their top school to make a funding offer that is held up because they haven't been notified that a student in the first round is declining their offer? Thoughts?
I let my other offers know I’m not attending. They will likely use the funding I was offered for a waitlisted student. I don’t want to possibly halt someone’s chance but not letting a school know my decision is a no.

Congrats! Also super disappointing on school's end, what are you thinking of doing?
I’m definitely going with Temple. They offered me a much better funding package and they cover health insurance (Tech didn’t even offer that.) The program at Temple is a much better fit with my interests too - it’s just a much better pick in every way honestly. Plus I don’t have to drive in Philly - bonus!

Hey! I know a few of y’all are waiting to hear back from GA Tech. I was rejected from the digital media program. But I was admitted to a different program - HSTS PhD.
I received an email on Tuesday letting me know I was waitlisted and then asking me if I was still interested. I replied back yes and let the person know that I received zero notice of me being on a waitlist. Right after that I receive my official acceptance letter.
THIS MORNING, I was sent an email around 8am saying I have to let them know by end of day TODAY what my decision is! Wtf
like all of us, my acceptance letter has the national/federal deadline of April 15. When I was contacted on Tuesday there was nothing said about needing to make my decision early, on Friday (today). I’m super disappointed in them. I guess they’re having funding and communication issues.
what happened to me is unusual for any school/ program. I still haven’t heard from UMD or VCU yet.

Just got my decision letter from University of Maryland's PhD in Comms program. I did not get in. It was the only program I applied to. While I have a robust career I love, I am bummed about this decision because this program would have been a really great pivot point for where I wanna take my career next.
Gonna go pour a glass of something and go feel sorry for myself for a few hours. Then, onward and upward, as they say, to a different path to get where I want to go.
Wishing you all the very best as more decisions roll in over the next week or so.
I'm sorry you didn't in to your top and only pick. I know how crushed that feeling can be. I hope you took some time to rest and unplug. Onward and upward to see where your path takes you

Thank you! I'm applying to their Political Campaigning program. I've never understood that broad timeframe. Maybe it's because I'm new to this but April 15 isn't THAT far away...how could you tell someone two weeks before they need to choose lol? Anyway, I've had my app in since December, I'm hoping the fact that neither of us have gotten rejected is good news. Is UF one of your top choices?
Yea, April 15th is right around the corner. It gives those of us still waiting little to no time to make a decision or plan to travel for any safe campus visits. I hope we all hear back this month so we have time to decide. Good luck everyone!

Is there anyone who is on the waitlist for a school that they would definitely attend if they got off the list?
If so, is there anything you have done so far to let the school know that you are really interested?
I obviously don't want to bother the admissions but is it normal to frequently contact them?
I was not told whether I am on top of the waitlist or not so I really don't know if I should be just waiting until April (national deadline).
Any tips? I really would attend if I got off the waitlist.
Well, I'm not on a waitlist but I'm waiting to hear back from one more program with is in my top 3 choices. I was rejected from one, accepted to one, and still waiting to hear back from one. I emailed the program coordinator to ask for an update but I never heard back. If I dont hear back later this month them I'm going to reach out to them again.

I got the full funding from temple as well, but I have already accepted the offer from another school. I declined temple's offer.
Awesome! Which school did you decide to go with?

I'm really interested in Temple's program -- Did you hear from them on funding?
Yes, I was offered a really good, fully-funded package that I'm happy with. Theres only 1 other school I'm still considering, but I've yet to hear from them. Temple did say that most students would hear about funding early April so if you haven't heard from them yet I wouldn't panic. (I heard from them early - earlier than most/normal I think - about my admissions decision too.)
-
So, yesterday I received two more rejections - Uni of Toronto and Northwestern. It's looking like I'm going to go to accept Temple's offer ? Good luck everyone!

I guess we're still in the running because, one would imagine, they would have already notified the absolute no/declines as part of the initial decision release wave. I imagine this is a really competitive year across the board because it seems (based on updates in other places) that other departments throughout the university have been slow to roll out due to funding decisions/allocations from the university.
Wishing you lots of good luck, and fingers crossed for us both!
Yea, that's what I think. I feel optimistic but you ever know. We'll hear something sometime this month though. And thank you! I have my fingers crossed for you too!

I know it's hard everyone but let's try to remain positive and hopeful! Who knows, we might still get acceptances and/or waitlisted. Yea, we will probably also get rejections but there's still a chance. The show isn't over yet, folks! Especially as schools work their way down their maybe lists. It's still early March... a lot can happen in a few weeks. I know how badly we all want to get into our top choices and have multiple offers on the table. There's still time everyone

Also still waiting to hear from Maryland. Did you interview with them or meet with any POI prior to or during the application process?
No, I haven't heard from them at all. I did reach out to the admissions team and they said they've released a few decisions and will continue to over the next several weeks. So I guess they're just doing a slow roll out, unfortunately. I much prefer schools letting applications know whether it's a yes, no or waitlist so that we can plan accordingly.

Has anyone who was accepted to NCSU's CRDM PhD program, who was waitlisted for funding, received any funding updates?

Ah, that is bad to hear but awesome you got at least three offers and for sure more than that! I thought of applying to HSTS, but then gave up. Where else are you waiting to hear from?
Yea I was crushed but there a lot more to look forward to. I'm still waiting to hear from McGill, University of Toronto, GA Tech, Northwestern, VCU and University of Maryland.

All PhD programs! I had my interview with Dr. Yanni Loukissas at GA Tech, not sure if he is one of the names you spoke with. I hope we get some good news! What is the other program you applied to?
Yea, I spoke with them. Sadly I received my rejection notification Friday evening. I was realllllly crushed but I have 3 offers on the table and Im still waiting on a few more. I'm still feeling very happy, grateful and relieved. I applied to HSTS too.

Hey everyone! Just wanted to share my application statuses so far:
- UT Dallas Arts Technology Emerging Communication: accepted with funding
- MIT Media Lab: rejected
- ASU Media Arts and Sciences: N/A
- Georgia Tech: had an interview on 2/22
- UCSB Media Arts Technology: N/A but they say results will be announced early March.
If anyone applied to a similar program at ASU and heard back I'd love to hear since it's my top choice!
Also, I definitely with I applied to UT Austin's and UT Dallas' media PhD programs. Are you a MA or PhD application for these programs? Just curious.

Hey, I applied to the Digital Media program at Georgia Tech and had an interview on 2/22. Did not get a rejection or an offer yet.
Yea, thats the same program I applied to. I didn't get an interview request which worries me... Georgia Tech is my #1 pick. I did speak to a lot of faculty members and I was a GA Tech focus scholar so I'm still hopeful. I applied to 2 programs at Tech actually. Fingers crossed for good news!

I'm still waiting for Northwestern. They said they would inform us by the end of this week.
Also, is there anyone still waiting for Penn State after attending the Open House? They sent out rejection letter already, but I haven't received them yet. So I hope it's good news.
Yea, I hope we hear back from NWU later today. Fingers crossed!

Did anyone apply to any programs at Northwestern or Georgia Tech? If so, have you heard anything from either school yet?

Does anyone know anything about Syracuse University and/or their Information Studies program? I dont know much about the school or their reputation besides what I've read on their website. Did anyone apply to Georgia Tech?

I declined PhD offers to the information studies program at Syracuse, the CRDM program at NC State (I was waitlisted for funding but their funding back is extremely low anyways), and I declined an offer to GA Tech's HSTS program.
