  1. Yes – interviews were mostly a couple weeks ago I believe.
  2. Have there been Chicago results (accepted/waitlisted/rejected)? I haven't seen anything posted.
  3. Wowww congrats! Is it your top choice?
  4. Oh yeah that's a tricky deadline to navigate. I think I've read others talk about asking for an extension – maybe you should consider that? Basic living costs and the tuition at least precludes you from getting into debt! Toronto sounds cold! haha, but good luck navigating these choices (and again, yay for choices).
  5. Congrats on your admissions! Curious about Belgium – I've heard international funding tends to be limited. Would you have to come up with your own funding/scholarships, or do you think they'll offer you anything? What's your fave of these options? Great to have choices!
  6. Lol bystander anxiety. Someone should research that. Here's hoping! I am really hoping for Virginia over Chicago because I don't think I can handle the cold...like, truly. (ok, any acceptance would be spectacular).
  7. Ughhh such a crazy year! Appreciate your reply; just looked at your history – I'm also a s/o of an applicant. Ethics. I'm just hoping that it's more than 2 or 3 slots (because that just feels almost impossible, sigh). Good luck to you as well!!
  8. So...anybody have info on U Chicago? Curious about how many spots they have this year.
  9. OK, had no idea NELC was taking that amount of applicants. I actually think it's possibly unethical for schools to omit that info (they are taking TWO applicants) when you apply. Honestly, why not put that info somewhere on the site? I get that they look better when they have lots of applicants and a low admit ratio, but geez app fees are expensive. Congrats!!
  10. So this might not be comforting, but I feel like getting an interview is a BIG deal and even if you don't get accepted it means you were qualified enough for the program (ie smart enough, talented enough, recommended enough, interesting research...). I think with such crazy low numbers this year, it feels a bit like a lottery. I guess what I'm saying is that it's not a reflection on you if you don't get in. I do wonder the same thing though – likelihood of getting in after getting an interview. Like, is it just a "you're not crazy and we'll take you" thing for some unis and a "be articulate, charming, "good fit" and impressive" for others? Ahhhh yeah hahahah
  11. I heard from a current UVA grad student that they are accepting 4 phd candidates this year (department email went out with this info a couple months ago I believe), so...yeah that sucks. Maybe it'll be more than that for some reason, but I think Covid cuts are just brutal this year. The waiting game is the worst.
