  1. My portal just updated! I was accepted into the MPA (without funding)!

For those wondering, my GPA was 3.65 and my SOI was just okay; 7 or 8/10. My letters of rec were both very strong; 9/10 overall at least. It is coming for y'all as well.

nothing for me yet either... I hate this. I feel like they'll all have to be posted by 5 or 6? May be wishful thinking, though

I have a friend who received their undergraduate acceptance email from GW at 8:30 pm a few years ago. It is a *possibility*.

So I just checked and have a result!

I was waitlisted -- which is honestly hilarious! What a weird year.

Did you get an email first, or just randomly check the dashboard?

(Apparently you can only react to a few posts per day. That's kinda dumb, but whatever I guess)

I'm not sure if it means anything, but when i signed on to check my application portal earlier it had me reset my password. Very hopeful for news tonight!

It's probably had me do that 3 times over the past 5 months. I don't think it means anything, unfortunately. It also gets really annoying because they won't let you use old passwords.

  5. Aside from my rec letters, I finished my application in October and submitted everything before the Jan. 15th deadline (I think that was the one for fellowships). Tuesday, March 15th is exactly 6 weeks after the 1st. 6 weeks after we received the email on February 15th would be (God forbid) March 30th.

  6. Program Applied To: MPA
    Schools Applied To:  GWU Trachtenberg
    Schools Admitted To:
    Schools Rejected From:
    Still Waiting: GWU Trachtenberg
Undergraduate Institution:  Southeast State Flagship University
    Undergraduate GPA: 3.65
    Undergraduate Major:  Econ/Poli Sci
    GRE Quantitative/Verbal/AW Scores:  N/A
Years Out of Undergrad (if applicable):  0.5
    Years of Work Experience:  ~2
Describe Relevant Work Experience:  Mostly policy internships with state govt and Political campaigns. Other clerical work.
Strength of SOP (be honest, describe the process, etc): Overall pretty strong. Highlighted how their program fit perfectly into my career plans and my personal commitment to public service and furthering my education.
Strength of LOR's (be honest, describe the process, etc): Very strong. One is from a professor who is my mentor and formerly a top economist at the White House. Well respected
internationally. Other letter was from a State University System President who is well known and whom I worked for.

  7. I haven't received any emails like that, but I assume some type of professional networking jargon should be fine. I.e. "It's a pleasure to meet you." "I am excited to be a part of the program." "I look forward to working with you soon." General basic networking language should suffice if you haven't met them in-person. If you are inclined to accept the offer, there's nothing wrong with asking to set up a call to ask more questions or get to know them better.
