They reached out to me completely out of the blue. I hadn't sent anything to U of A since before the application deadline.

I randomly got this email from U of A today too. I thought it was really weird, I also already accepted Western so won't take them up on it.

If you're from U of A be careful with this! I sent in a request to have my transcripts sent after winter term grades were approved, they said they would send them February 1st... they still haven't sent them ?

Hey! I was planning to do some form of open studies and taking a research course if I didn't get in. U of A has open studies and special students, UBC has unclassified students, and a few other universities have non-degree/casual student choices. I know the most about U of A and psyco 398 is a research course you can take twice as an open studies student and you might also be able to take psyco 299, 396 or ling 375 (all research courses) as a special student or get special permission in open studies. Most of the deadlines to apply are in July. I hope this helps!!

It hasn't shown up for me either. I'm kind of stressed about it but I'm glad I'm not the only one!

I go to the U of A now and rent a house off campus. I have friends who lived in the upper year res and renting off campus gets you a nicer place for a similar price. It might be getting a bit cheaper too since there are two apartment buildings being built right by my house (about a 5 minute walk to Corbett hall where speech is) but I don't know if they'll be finished in time for September. Haha same! They've started sending out like 5 emails a week, I'm scared I won't even notice if I get an email about speech ?

I asked Vicki about how to prove that I took the MOOC course and she said she doesn't care about that until admissions offers have been made. It sounded to me like U of A doesn't really look at that at all for admission.
