  1. While we're all hanging out stressed, does anyone want to share what they're researching? I'd love to hear about some of people's passion projects! :)) I'm researching how to deliver improved human sexuality training for clinical and counselling psychologists.
  2. This is where I'm at too. I just need an outcome so that the brain can finally get quiet lol
  3. Oh I don't know them personally but they were a friend in suffering lol! Same here, I do not like who I've become over this waiting process haha
  4. Looks like someone on the NSERC board found out from their supervisor that their application was successful! So the information is somewhere, just not quite in our sights yet...
  5. This is good to know! 12pm EST?
  6. Hey everyone! I'm a SSHRC lurker. Just wondering if yall actually ended up getting your results today?
  7. From what I understand, fewer awards overall go to first and second years. I don't think this has to do with exactly when you start; it's more about how you would naturally become a more competitive applicant with more contributions and research work as you advance in your PhD.
  8. Definitely not by yourself in this cycle, I've had the exact same thoughts! I heard that the email caused a lot of chaos last year, so I'm very much hoping they just decided not to bother. If we have to wait over another week I might just explode in the meantime lol I also read that the CIHR applicants have an "anticipated notice of decision" date of April 25th. There is often some discrepancy between councils, but they do try to get the results out on at least a similar-ish timeframe, so it would be strange for us to have to wait over a week past when CIHR results come out I think... maybe that's just wishful thinking on my part though.
  9. Thank you so much for sharing! I hope that it comes through for you this year after being so close last year! This is actually more information than I anticipated receiving (I figured it would just be a yes or a no) so I'm glad we get some context at least.
  10. Thank you for the clarification, this is helpful! Such a long wait—hopefully we all get some closure soon.
  11. I'm an SSHRC applicant (submitted by my department), not NSERC, but at a point maybe a month or two my application just disappeared from the portal. My CV is still there, but my application is no longer listed. Another student from my department noticed the same. I was wondering if anyone here has noticed something similar?
  12. Thank you so much @marloe, this is super helpful! At least I know to stop checking the application submission portal.
  13. Would someone who previously applied be able to break down how we actually see the results, whenever they become available? What exactly is the extranet? Is that the same portal where we submitted our CVs?
  14. I applied to the course-based stream! So that's actually good, I believe that the two streams have their own waitlists which means you could still be at the top of yours. Good luck, I really hope you get an offer!
  15. Congrats to you too, with so many applicants being waitlisted is a huge accomplishment! Did you apply to the course-based or to the thesis-based stream?
  16. Thought I'd post about it because I haven't seen anyone do it yet- University of Alberta has made their offers. There were over 200 applications this year, and they made six course-based and four thesis-based offers. I was informed that those who have been accepted have until March 15th to accept, so if any of you are waitlisted you can expect to hear before then! I was accepted at the U of A today after being on the wait list for about a week; if you have questions about the process or my stats or anything let me know!
