Bumping, too! Just got admitted and funded for the PhD in English at UWM. I am an international student and came to the US for my MA two years ago... So far I have only lived in Austin, Texas. So I would love to hear some thoughts on moving from the "hot" parts of the US to the rather "cold" ones. What are winters in Milwaukee like? Also, can someone tell me if there is a comedy scene in Miilwaukee?

It is wild... But also: Don't take my word for it, of course. That's just things I saw discussed in other forums and in the result margins. The only thing to do, as annoying as it is, is to wait, I fear. They still have ten days (to at least reject us, if nothing else :D).

Hey! Would you mind sharing your research focus. It would just help me to moderate my hopes for PennState, as I haven't heard of any Contemporary American Lit person being admitted yet... You can also PM me, if you don't want to post about it

In another forum they have discussed this whole PennState mess... but cannot remember where. I am waiting, too, desperately. The rumor is that they will not respect the April 15th deadline this year and go for rolling admission (no waitlist; just admitting one by one)... Also the one person who is already admitted and posted the results here said that they are changing their focus this year away from contemporary American to Renaissance stuff (,which I personally, as a "21st century American Lit"-gurl find super charming).

Hey everyone, posting for the first time as I need to distract myself from the stress somehow. I am waitlisted at UIC and accepted at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. The problem is I haven't gotten full funding from Milwaukee... yet. (As an F-1 student, full funding is a condition to get my Visa approved again.) So, should UIC come through, I might decline Milwaukee's offer (if that helps anyone). My research interests are postmodernism, contemporary literature, form & criticism (with a side hustle in humor studies and feminism)...
