  1. I think I got an acceptance email, too, but I didn't get any info packet. I do think it was like a week after my acceptance was in the portal. I'd reach out to them by email. That said, here is the link to their online acceptance packet.
  2. I was recently in a pre-orientation session where I believe they said people were still being accepted. I'd definitely start (respectfully) pestering them though.
  3. Don't worry about it. This isn't like a job interview, where you feel the need to perfectly show off your expertise to get the gig. This is for a spot in an educational program. They know you don't have the skills - that's why you're seeking education! What they want to figure out, from what I could tell from the questions, is whether or not you seem mentally prepared for graduate level study and social work and if your politics/beliefs are compatible with Silberman's perspective of social work. The questions felt a lot more like they wanted to figure out who we were as people and where we were in life to be pursuing this degree. (One of my friends, who is a social worker in the city, also suggested that one role of the interview is to confirm that you are the person who wrote the statement you submitted, and that it was honest). Giving honest answers to the questions is what will serve you much better than any other tips, etc. that we could give.
  4. Can anyone who received the 2y program welcome packet give a debrief of what's in it? Does it say when the program starts or anything? All I know is "late august."
  5. I know some other schools in the region/city, like Columbia/Rutgers, have decided to do in-person education but firmly require vaccination to attend. Now that we've hit the point where the mass inoculation sites in the city have significant numbers of unused slots per day, I kinda expect CUNY to follow suit. If you're not on the road to vaccination at this point, you probably just don't want to be vaccinated. Which, y'know, is your choice but I don't think schools are going to take on the liability of that, and they aren't going to stay remote to accommodate that choice. I'm really hoping for in-person education, personally. So much of communication is nonverbal, so I'd prefer to learn clinical skills in a situation where we can see more than just a head and shoulders.
  6. I assume you mean the written assignment, not the personal statement, yeah? My understanding is that any/all text loaded when it times out is automatically submitted. It's the equivalent of a proctor yelling "pens down" during a written you sit for. What's on the page is what gets turned in. Mine timed out, too, but I had all the content in there (was just proofreading) and it was no issue.
  7. Just sent back my acknowledgement form accepting a spot at Silberman this fall. Looking forward to learning with y'all!
  8. I think they're doing final reviews in batches, which can only be so big. So when you finished and submitted your writing assignment, when your interviewer could submit their notes, and the timing of those things for other applicants probably all has a bearing on which batch you're in. So it's fully possible you're in this week's batch of final reviews. But you shouldn't be waiting TOO long after the assignment/interview. If it helps, I've interviewed and submitted my assignment, and my portal still says "pending interview" too. I think it'll probably just say that until I get accepted/denied.
  9. From everything I've learned, Hunter is an extremely well-respected school for social work, and is primarily known for being one of the most progressive programs in the country when it comes to their actual emphasis on diversity, intersectionality, etc. It's also, y'know, a fraction of the price of other programs. But that also comes with the realities that it being a public school, and chronically underfunded compared to private programs (which I understand, because I've worked in administration at a public university before). So there is potentially less wiggle room to self-advocate for placements that best align with your career goals, less financial aid, etc. I know of some people who did NYU's program for less than Hunter's, for instance. I have heard good things about BU in general, but nothing specific. I can't say I looked into it much, though, because I'm really geographically bound to NYC. Fordham seems to be very respected in the online space, specifically. I'm personally hoping we'll be able to resume in-person classes this year, since I want to be a clinician, and I know I personally rely on body language a LOT in communicating with people. So Hunter is my personal first choice.
  10. Congrats!! Can I ask, what was your portal status before it changed to accepted?
  11. They now have an automated email response that says they're reviewing every application and will reach out directly with next steps as they get to them. So I guess it's now just a patience game. Which I'm fine with. Just nice knowing it is, since everything became confusing after the email.
  12. Looks like my portal has been updated to "Pending Interview," but no news as of yet on how to schedule it. Looks like they actually took down all the meetings from the original eventbrite event?
  13. Same, appreciated @kitty. I'm sure the staff feels terrible, too. Tbh the only worse thing I could imagine happening is accidentally sending acceptances that you need to rescind. And that's just the emotional piece. The actual, huge bulk of work on an ASAP timeline that this created has to be exhausting.
  14. Same boat for me - New applicant, I got invited for the interview, and all the slots were sold out. I replied to that email asking if I could schedule it directly, and haven't heard back. It being a glitch makes a lot more sense to me, because I was shocked at the turnaround time. I only submitted my application this weekend. Just from the process perspective, it didn't make sense to me that they'd have reviewed my application and flagged me for an interview so quickly. So I guess we'll see what happens. I feel bad for the admissions staff - this is a brutal glitch to happen and have to deal with. I REALLY hope no one who was denied (if they sent any of those yet) got it... I'm guessing they'll respond as they actually get through the applications. They might want to avoid telling people they were invited in error, if possible, if they might need to actually schedule one with them? Edit: Oh, and application status just says "submitted"
