  1. lol fingers crossed ?
  2. Well there goes my prediction of hearing back from UofT Epi today ?
  3. For those of us waiting for UofT Epi, there's a good chance we may hear back tomorrow. Looking through last year's posts, I noticed that 2nd/3rd round of offers went out the second Wednesday of April. ? Could be totally wrong but fingers crossed!!!
  4. Great you have that research experience! Good Luck
  5. What are your stats/experiences?
  6. Yeah I've heard from both
  7. this friday lol
  8. It was UofT Epi but I recently got offered a job which I most likely won't be able to accept if I choose to go for UofT, so I'm considering my other options (Guelph and Brock) right now. Hbu?
  9. I highly doubt this is considered. Many students, including myself, fall into this mindset, at some point, but in my opinion, in the end, what counts is whether you will have the knowledge, experience and connections to secure a good position, following completion of the program. So if you feel that this program will provide you the skills and experiences to pursue a specific job or work environment or other educational goals, go for it.
  10. Does anyone know the class size of UofT Epi?
  11. Nope nothing yet ?
  12. Thank you so much for your thoughtful response. I definitely appreciate the insight. Since I completed my MSc in quite a different area of study I am hopeful the practicums will allow me to explore specific areas of interest in public health, but you are absolutely right that it also depends on our persistent effort to secure work that aligns with our career goals. I will definitely have to do some thinking, as I’m now weighing out Guelph and Brock.
  13. For those who are planning to attend or know those who have completed an online MPH program such as Brock or Lakehead, what are your thoughts on these programs in comparison to in-person programs. Do you think this impacts your chances of finding a good practicum or work following graduation? I'm considering the programs because it will allow me to continue working while pursuing MPH but at the same time I'm worried about potential credibility and competitiveness when finding work? Greatly appreciate any input on this.
  14. Not a problem at all! There’s a lot of options in Toronto but again because of UofT’s MPH programs, preference is most likely towards students in those programs. But of course that doesn’t mean you can’t apply, based on your experiences and cover letter you may have a good shot at securing a practicum in Toronto
  15. It seems like most do stay in Hamilton or neighbouring areas like Niagara, but that's not to say you can't move to Toronto. If that's something you are considering, in terms of finding work after graduating, I think having professional connections and prior work/volunteer experiences in Toronto (something to consider when looking for practicums as well), will make the job search much easier, this is just something I've noticed from my personal experiences.
  16. Hey, a friend of mine recently graduated from the MPH program (December 2020). According to her, students had no trouble finding practicums, as long as you have a good idea of where you want to do your placements. She ended up doing 2 different practicums, I believe they recently introduced the option of replacing 2 electives with a part-time placement, in addition to the full-time placement all students are expected to complete. However, in terms of finding work, apparently only a handful of students from her graduating class were able to find work so far, most likely because of Covid. However, on LinkedIn, many students who completed the MPH program in prior years are working in places like the PHAC, local health units, and McMaster. Hope this was helpful and good luck! :)
  17. Nope, still waiting -.-
  18. Oh perfect, thank you
  19. Has anyone heard from UofT epi at all?
  20. Hey! I actually recently completed my MSc at Guelph so I can share some insight on commuting. I commuted from Toronto and it’s definitely doable , but requires strong time management and commitment. I also noticed a few people in my program who commuted. There’s of course perks to living on campus like getting to know your colleagues and not having to create a study schedule around your commuting time. Unfortunately, I can’t speak to the workload though cause my program required us to take 2 courses compared to the 3 courses for the MPH program. Even if it’s one additional course could have a significant difference, based on course scheduling, but I assume it wouldn’t be as bad as undergrad.
  21. Hey, for those waiting to hear from Guelph, deadline to accept the offer is April 21, dates may slightly vary since people got admitted over a couple of days. So if they are doing multiple round of offers, you will most likely hear from them closer to the end of April. Hope this helps!
  22. Still waiting ... ?
  23. Ok same, I wasn't sure if anyone on the waitlist had got into the program tho.
  24. Gahhh I feel you ?
  25. Hey I'm on the waitlist as well, I haven't received any response yet. ?
