I am in the process of writing my appeal now! I was going to use the info provided at this link. https://socialwork.columbia.edu/current-students/dual-degree-faq/financial-aid/what-if-im-not-satisfied-with-my-financial-aid-package/ For other schools, I've emailed saying I'm honored to have received the award, but am interested in appealing, and then ask if they have any forms or formal procedures for doing so. If they say it's just an email, I typically follow that up with a longer email explaining my circumstances.

Hi! I applied 2/15 and was confirmed 2/25 - I got my acceptance on 4/26. Like a few others, I just happened to check the portal and it was posted.

For those of you who have been admitted to Columbia, did the acceptance letter name any scholarships/grants, or did that come later?

Hey y'all! I was just admitted to UChicago and on my award letter was given some aid, but nothing about a merit scholarship. The letter also said that financial aid information would be forthcoming. In other people's experience, does that second letter include more scholarship money?

That's pretty consistent with what I've heard. I think there's a lot that goes into the ranking - and frankly, I think that the fact that it's an Ivy brings them up in the rankings. The students I've spoken with have said to do whatever makes most financial sense, especially if the other schools I'm considering are well regarded (which Smith definitely is!)

I have heard from current students that their biggest complaint is that it doesn't feel worth the money. I have heard from social workers in the area that they feel Penn does not prepare their MSW students as well as other Philly-area schools (namely Bryn Mawr). This being said, my alumni interviewer had nothing but good things to say about her experience (though it was about 12 years ago). I am also debating accepting my offer from Penn, and have put down a deposit at BU already, but what I'm hearing from current students is definitely making me hesitate.

I emailed a week ago asking for an update - like a few other people, I have decision deadlines approaching - and I got a form email in response: "Applicants who complete their applications by December 1, 2020 will receive an admissions notification in February 2021. All other applicants who complete an application for the fall 2021 term will receive an admissions notification between late March and early April. We have received a record number of applications this year and are working our hardest to make sure each application gets the attention it deserves. We appreciate your patience."

Has anyone had any luck appealing their award offers from BU? Or does anyone have information on their typical/max scholarship awards?

Sure -- I've heard from several students that they've been disappointed with how field placements/related advising is handled, and that the program isn't totally clear about how the process works. I also heard concerns that the course offerings published online aren't necessarily consistent with what's actually being offered, and students were disappointed to miss out on opportunities that they were excited about. I'd definitely recommend trying to connect with a current student. My interviewer had great things to say, but she attended years ago.

Hi! I didn't apply to USC but was admitted to Penn a few weeks ago. I'm pretty torn, but I've heard a lot of mixed reviews about Penn. I've spoken to several students who aren't happy with their decision to enroll at Penn, especially considering the cost of tuition.

Out of curiosity, how much aid did they offer? If you're comfortable sharing!
