I got the impression that it's harder to get if you're not in a social sciences department? Either way, if NSERC doesn't work this year we might try to SSHRC next time.

Has anyone here also applied to SSHRC? I'm in a really interdisciplinary program (even if I'm Bio department) so we actually had to decide which tri-council to apply for?

Shall we start with a 5 minute slow hum that progressively gets louder into intense screaming? I feel that that would add to the drama.

I don't know about anyone else, but the only thing getting me through the week is the horrendous amount of assignments I have due on Friday. I physically can't fixate on NSERC because if I don't get a paper written I'll fail a class. So blessing in disguise?

If SSHRC is out that bodes well! I can never get over how horribly organized NSERC is.

Can confirm this as well! Carleton announced the OGS results on March 31st so I know I got it this year (which is great). Since you only have 2 weeks to accept or decline (at Carleton anyway), they say to accept it first and then you can turn it down at the end of the month if you get NSERC. You can't hold more than 1 of OGS, NSERC, or QE at a time. And you can't even apply for QE in the same year you still hold OGS (even if it would end by the time you got QE money) which is stupid.

Hello fellow Bio PhD in Ottawa! Also, WannaBeSwede do you mean when universities are informed or when we will know? I'm pretty sure there's a delay there. Some professors would know early last year (if their departments told them) but that doesn't mean official results are out.

The only thing on my extranet are the result last year. I haven't gotten an email yet either. Just sitting here waiting haha

Oh wow! Hopefully it's on time this year then. I feel like last year we were waiting for weeks after they were supposed to let us know.

I know it's not April yet (and who know when in April we'll hear) but hope everyone isn't too stressed waiting!

Second year applying! I like my application a lot more this year, so hopefully NSERC does too. It was last year on Nov 18th that I heard from my uni that I'd made it to the national competition so hopefully I hear soon.
