  1. I have to stop myself from checking my emails every 5 minutes! It doesn't help that I have a first draft of my proposal due at the end of the month (I have been procrastinating HARD). What are you working on right now for your project?
  2. Ahahaha, right? The grad admin here is so speedy! She's probably fielding the exact same email all of the time now and just copy-pastes her answers at this point.
  3. Update: Carleton says they haven't heard anything.
  4. Oh exciting! I might poke admin at Carleton and see what they say.
  5. On my gosh, congratulations!
  6. Did anyone else just get the NSERC newsletter and have a minor panic attack ? NSERC is just straight up trolling us now.
  7. No word for PGS/CSG-D BUT! A friend got called me today to tell me he got news on Vanier this morning! (He got it!!) If they're announcing Vanier we can't be too far behind.
  8. I've heard that NSERC is more open to interdisciplinary research than SSHRC is, especially when the sciences are involved. So probably a good call
  9. I'm a first year PhD at Carleton in conservation and sociology - basically how stakeholders use evidence to make decisions about forest management. After I finished my Masters in 2017 I took a few years off in STEM education. My project is such a weird mix of biology and sociology that my supervisor and I weren't even sure if we should apply for NSERC or SSHRC. Since I had a CGS-M in my Masters, we went for NSERC. Here's hoping that was the right call! I have 7 publications (3 as first author), so hopefully they look at those and not my meh grades.
  10. I'm also a Carleton student and was really hoping to hear by now! I know the CGS-M students find out tomorrow through the portal (which seems WAY easier). It was my understand too that PhD finds out before Masters. Oh well.
