Congrats! GC members seem to be hearing goods things from UMD overall. I hope to hear the same. I was informed that my packet was sent to an old address. I'll be waiting of the new packet sent out Monday.

I saw that at least one person got an MPP admit today. If you're reading, did they update your status in SPARKS?

boo! i received the letter from the grad school but still no department packet. anybody else?

I see that somebody posted in the results that they received a department packet with funding information. Hopefully we will get something soon.

Did anyone else notice that someone posted an acceptance via phone in the results? Is that s/o from this thread by any chance?

Did this contain funding information from the department or was it just the letter from the grad school?

strange. i was told that they would be sending out "department packets" last week. but maybe the grad school sends a hard copy of the letter, and the dept sends the packet.

anyone get their packet yet?

i submitted mine back in october (!). but from what i can tell the admissions decisions coming out are not based on when you submitted (unless, of course, you submitted after the deadline).

Finally was able to access my status online, and I am very grateful to have learned that I was accepted. Still no word on funding (in fact it is not mentioned in the letter at all).

I just checked my status and found the following: "A decision has been made regarding your application. You will receive a hard copy of the decision letter by mail. Your decision letter should be available to review online 48-72 hours after the date listed below. Date Document 2/16/2011 Letter is not available for online viewing" Any other U of Maryland applicants see this before they got their decision?

Does anyone know whether we will be able to see our admission results in the "Check Application Status" section of the ASF? I noticed that one person posted in the Results that they received their admissions status online.

Congrats! It seems that there has been no mention of funding in these emails and that this info will be coming in the packet (?)

Thank you for the update! I had emailed Taryn Faulkner a few weeks back when the first couple of decisions popped up in the Results search and she said, similarly, that admissions decisions will be sent out in batches. Congrats on your admit!

It seems that there are many in this thread who have applied to the University of Maryland's School of Public Policy. Some have even begun to hear back (according to thegradecafe Results search). So I thought I'd start a thread to track results. I haven't heard back, for either admissions or the RFFG fellowship. For those who have heard back, were you notified via email? Anyone else hear back about RFFG? cheers and good luck to all!

I just finished reading through this entire thread and want to thank everyone for their useful comments. I was accepted to an MA program at NYU for Fall 2009 and am interested in attending, but am a bit intimidated by the idea of finding housing remotely (from Chicago). I've read Brooklyn, Astoria, etc.... but what really is the best way for an NYU student to get started looking for housing??? Ideally, I'd rent a studio and live by myself but a roommate would do if necessary. Thanks all!

This is a bit of a silly question, but is it customary to follow-up with recommenders via email or snail mail? I already sent a brief note via snail mail after all of my applications were submitted but now I'd like to send them the results of the process and thank them once again. Any tips??

Congrats! Although I haven't been active in the discussion, I've been following your saga for weeks! Seriously, congratulations!

I was recently accepted to a master's program without departmental funding (join the club, right?). However, I'm still very interested in this program and am seeking out other sources of funding. I'm currently employed with a NSF grant research project at a public R1, and have been advised by my supervisor to seek out an RA-ship with a different department (many of our employees are RAs who have their tuition covered). Does anyone have any advice on the best way to find available RA positions? I understand this is a broad question that will vary between schools, but perhaps there are some relatively-universal standards that apply (??). Should I begin randomly emailing departments? Is it better to wait until the late summer months to begin searching? The same goes for TA positions. There are none available in my department, but the GPC advised I contact some of the larger departments. Nothing promising yet... Anyone have any tips on seeking out and securing a TA position?

I noticed there were some results posted today. I applied to the Middle Eastern Studies program at the Elliot School and am still waiting to hear. I'm curious to hear what programs people applied to that heard responses.

I'm waiting to hear from the Hagop Kevaorkian Center (Near Eastern Studies) at NYU. According to their FAQ site, the Graduate School of Arts & Sciences will not begin to mail admissions results until mid to late March. Big sigh... http://gsas.nyu.edu/object/grad.admissions.admissionsfaq
