I applied to the University of Maine and got accepted! I liked their program because they allowed you to take prerequisites at the same time as you do your masters, while other schools (like SUNY Plattsburgh which I also applied to) need you to do a post bac program if you do not have the prereqs which does not guarantee admission to the program the year after. It sucks because in Canada we do not have the CSD bachelor's so some courses that are required by ASHA are really hard to attend here! I would suggest looking into school that would allow you do some prereqs at the same time as your masters like Maine so your living costs are lower to make up for the high tuition! Also, look into graduate assistantships to try to get some extra money to help pay off the tuition! Good luck, I hope this helps!!- 1,373 replies

Yeah for sure!! I'm a first time applicant and I'm graduating in 2022 from my undergrad in Education in Teaching English as a Second Language at McGill. So, it's not just Psych and Ling majors that get in (which is what I was quite nervous about)! Education in Quebec is a 4 year program (so a 5 year program for those coming from high school in other provinces). CGPA: 3.93 SUBGPA: 3.97 (according to ORPAS) I have volunteered at a Speech clinic and I ended up getting a job there right after as an administrator (I currently still work there). I'm currently also working as an ABA therapist and a substitute teacher. I have loads of teaching experience because of my internships and in my LOI I emphasized why I believed teaching was the best foundation to get into SLP (I knew I wanted to go into SLP before I started my undergrad). I also volunteered at an old age home a little while ago. There's a couple other things on my CV but they are from a while ago (day camp, student council, consortium, etc.) I have absolutely NO research experience. Honestly, I think McGill reviews applications really holistically (unlike McMaster for example), I would just do everything in your power to embellish your CV as much as possible so you can look back, know you did everything you could and have no regrets! Good luck everyone still waiting, you got this!! ❤️- 1,373 replies

You’re not alone, I’ve been religiously checking my emails for no reason lmao. For the past 3 years (that I know of), McGill has been calling their accepted students on March 15th, but I don’t know if it will be exactly the same this year! Hope this helps!- 1,373 replies

Anyone from McGill applying to McMaster? I took EDKP293 for the anatomy prerequisite but seeing people from York not have their KIN anatomy class be equivalent is making me a little nervous!- 1,373 replies

I think you only need to upload one transcript! Also on their website it says we have until January 30th to upload our initial transcripts I'm pretty sure! Also does anyone know if there is an email we can send our transcript to on ORPAS? One of my educational institutions doesn't use a distribution centre so I was wondering if there is an email I can send it to to speed up the process instead of mailing my transcript!- 1,373 replies

Hi I was just wondering, when you write 900 hours of volunteer experience how long ago at the time of your app did you complete these hours? I have some relevant volunteer experience from like 2014-2015 but i don't know if that is too long ago to add on my resume. Thanks in advance- 1,373 replies
