  1. Got an offer from UC Santa Cruz Bioinformatics program!!!
  2. I think they started sending invitations last week, you can check it on the results section here on GradCafe. Good Luck
  3. Jus received UPenn GCB rejection, how sad. It was my top choice ?
  4. Well, I have talked with a lot of grad students here at UCSD, haha, maybe they just didn't want to crush my dream right away
  5. That's right, if you look at the results section here on gradcafe you'll see internationals get the call on late january
  6. A little update of this: UPenn: GCB [I read international students interview invitations are send on late January] Columbia: IPCMBS [Interview mail received on 12/21] UCSD: BSB [Talked with students, told me internationals are invited on late January] UCSC: BMEB [Interview mail received on 12/15] UCLA: Bioinformatics [waitlisted on 01/10] UCSF: Biomedical Informatics [Rejected on 12/15] UChicago: GGSB [Historically starts with invitations on late February]
  7. Hi I have talked with many PhD students at UCs and told me that the interviews are super chill, you just have to know what you have done! they won't ask you nothing in detail as how a method works (maybe just the basic, but they don't expect a super detailed answer). The best advice they have given to me is to not get nervous and just be myself. They want to know how you are as a person and how you could develop if you join any lab at the university. Don't @me, I'm just sharing what I've been told. Good luck everyone
  8. I'm international too and we just match on UPenn, haven't heard back from them tho. Regarding the other programs, I don't know if they separate domestic from international students for invitations, but I've seen some posts/tweets about YALE, NYU, Stanford and Berkeley. Don't give up yet, if you haven't received a proper rejection there's still hope Good luck!
  9. I got exactly the same email. I was hoping this was a real wait-list, but now that I read the comments, yeah, sounds like a soft rejection, but I haven't lost hope yet Let's wait a little more.
  10. They already sent the first batch of interviews. Historically they send either rejections or the second batch of invitations during the first weeks of January, so let's wait. I didn't hear from them on the first batch, but haven't received a rejection so I still have hopes.
  11. Don't give up yet! There are multiple rounds of interview mails. If you haven't received a rejection letter then there's still chances
  12. I think it is not time to feel that way. A lot of Universities have multiple batches for invitations. As someone said in the thread, by mid-January, we should have a clearer picture of what's happening if we haven't been rejected.
  13. I think UCSD already started sending invitations, I'm waiting too.
  14. Congrats!!! I didn't know UCSD already started with invitations!!! Does your application page have a new status or it appear as submitted?
