I meant things can start happening on Monday: mail, calls, etc. and I'm not currently in school. I have my own business, which involves a lot of computer time, and am up all hours of the night with my infant.

been checking out applycorner. Not going to put myself out there for a 'rate my chances,' but it is fun to read others... the folks there are pretty harsh - lots of ratings of basically 'fat chance' for applicants who do end up getting into what the raters thought was a big reach. That's somewhat encouraging. Everybody ready for Monday?
-
ah yes, but I've applied to two psychology programs...not under the C of Ed.

holy cr@p! I just received a periodic status email from one school, and before I realized what it was, my heart skipped a beat that they had a decision for me. Now I am just "grr" because they still haven't received transcripts that I had sent back in December (overnighted them in fact)...
-
I've been reading that huge "favorite" student email thread on the chronicle site when I need a distraction. It's pretty funny (and enlightening!).
-
You can tell who I am over there on the chronicles site by my comments my 'grad' grades are from my J.D., which I believe is not (as) inflated (for example, a 3.4 was top third or higher, which is a lot lower than most grad programs from what I've seen).

probably up until around March...

less than a week to go, recommendations missing!!

how do you know they haven't sent anything? If you are going by the applicant tracking screen, it may just not have been updated yet (I had that happen w/one of my recommendations). I'd contact the Uni first and then the writer if they really don't have it. -
hmmm...based on that formula posted on this thread: http://chronicle.com/forums/index.php/t ... 544.0.html I have a 703 (averaging my undergrad and grad GPAs, 695 just undergrad). Anyone else want to share theirs? Her hypothetical good candidate w/1350 and 3.7 has a 701.

hey linden, to pass some of the time I'm reading a thread you started on the chronicles site, lol!
-
thanks. but at least you know you are going *somewhere*. Can you picture the shame if you didn't get in *anywhere*? Where did you hear from, btw?
-
most of my programs aren't there.
-
I just need one acceptance w/funding to end this overwhelming panic that I won't get in anywhere. I can't imagine how I would handle having to tell everyone that no, I'm not going to grad school, because I was too lame to get in anywhere.
-
where on livejournal are their psych results for this year? I only see one post and no comments... can you post a link? always looking for more places to obsess thanks!
-
Is it that they have been interviewed already or that they were notified that they were going to receive an interview? I figured the latter, and that now they would have to schedule it. and do different areas w/in Psychology do their decisions at different times? I'm only applying to one Psychology Department - my other applications are with the College of Ed., but I still want to know...
-
Stand up and identify yourself Stats, etc. Pretty please! Thanks!
-
woo...that sounds exciting, but I'd settle for (and may even prefer, lol), that tall lanky boy with the glasses to come from across the room and ask me to make out in the science lab Do we have any stats on whether all us type As on this board get in to our top choices (or anywhere at all)?
-
man! more people updating every day! I feel like I'm left on the sidelines at a jr. high dance...
-
yes, decision status.
-
Can we start a list? Of mine, the only one I know for sure that does is U. of Georgia. I believe Duke also does, but I think there is an option that only becomes visible once a decision has been made...
-
good to hear from you jpark! I applied to Stanford, the deadline was 12/16, but I haven't heard anything yet. Not that I expect to hear this soon, because the early notifications seem to be the definite 'yes' people (judging by the results search here). Getting in to Stanford is such a crap shoot even w/perfect numbers, etc. and I certainly don't have that... this of course does not stop me from refreshing email constantly and feeling like I'm sitting by the phone waiting for my jr. high crush to call.
-
What's the call like? What time of day? Who makes it? Just curious... Congratulations to those who have already gotten in somewhere!
-
argh! Is it ok to hate all you people who are already hearing from schools and posting on the results search here? Knowing that others are hearing makes it both better and worse...well it actually makes it worse only, but there is no way I could help myself from looking
-
I'd relax about that one. People on here have posted that they put the wrong school name on their SOPs and still got in to that school, so I'd say this is pretty teeny tiny in the scheme of things.
