  1. It seems that Princeton called the admitted students today. I heard from 3 students admitted. UC Berkeley will hold an Open House in March. That's all I've heard...
  2. @anonymous clown Hello! Congratulations on your acceptance in UC Davis! So, I received the same invitation to UCLA's Open House, but decided to participate via Zoom. As far as I understand it, they said not to take the invitation as an official acceptance - the letters would be sent by February 16th. However, it also seems very strange to me that they could spend money on reimbursement (flight, accommodation) if the person hadn't been accepted for the program. It wouldn't make much sense, would it? So I think we have a good chance of being accepted. Let's hope so!! 🙂
  3. Hello everyone! @Imperator Totius Hispaniae Congratulations on your results! @Anhelé Good to know about your interview! That's awesome! I'm still waiting for news... I'm just trying to avoid looking at my e-mail 24 hours a day, jajaja. Good luck, guys!
  4. Hello, everyone! Good to see this topic. I'm applying for five Hispanic Literature programs this year. Fingers crossed!
  5. Congratulations! I'm very happy to hear this! @_flora I don't know if anyone here is expecting news from Texas, but today I received an update from UTexas at Dallas: "Application Final Review". Apparently, in this case, it means that the Department made a decision and forwarded it to the Graduate School. I think they will send the results already this week. As for UHouston, no updates yet. These are the last two universities to close my cycle. Good luck for everyone!
  6. @SPANGRAD22Congratulations!!! I'm so glad for you! Probably we will study together! ? BU is my top choice. If you want, we can create a WhatsApp group with the other classmate. For questions, doubts, anyway... We've been looking for apartments lately. Sometimes we suggest links and exchange information to each other. Last week we talked to a PhD candidate via Zoom. He explained a lot of things about the department, exams, teaching fellow conditions, it was very helpful! Please let me know if you are interested. One more time, congratulations! I was sure that you would get the offer letter!!
  7. Hey, guys! How's it going? Two days ago, I received more two PhD acceptances: University of Massachusetts Amherst and University of Washington (Seattle). I'm thinking between Boston University x University of Washington. To me, they seem like the best options so far. I'm still waiting hear from University of Houston, but I think I'll get into BU. In general, what's the main difference between public and private institutions? Are there any advantages or disadvantages to consider in my decision? What do you think about? Thanks a lot!
  8. @SPANGRAD22 I was not interviewed. Acceptance was straightforward. Quite different from the other two universities I was accepted to. I think that in the BU there is no interview stage. What there is, as I understand it, is a post-approval interview, to align expectations with the advisor and to clarify doubts about the program!
  9. @caromellaThank you very much! Congratulations for UNC-Chapel Hill! It's amazing! @SPANGRAD22 I haven't had any updates on my portal. Just email the Chair of the Admissions Committee with a copy to the Graduate School. Good luck, my friend! Hope you hear good news soon too!
  10. Hey, pals! @caromella @SPANGRAD22 Today I received a message from BU! The message states that the admissions committee has recommended my application for the Graduate School: "I am pleased to inform you that our admissions committee has recommended to the Graduate School of Arts & Sciences that you be awarded admission." Still waiting for the offer letter, but the advisor will call me on Monday, "to discuss your interests with you and also to respond to any questions you might have. Additionally, we will be in touch soon about arrangements for a virtual opportunity to learn more about our program and our community." And he ended the email: "My colleagues and I hope very much that you will be joining us in the fall!" That's my top choice! I'm so excited!
  11. Congratulations, @GRADSPN1! CUNY looks like a great program! The teacher I contacted few months ago is retiring this year, so I didn't apply there. In addition, costs seem to be very expensive in NY (same as I heard about Boston, MA). But I think it depends on the offer letter $ you receive and if you are going with dependents. I don't know how much the stipend is at CUNY... Good luck in your decision! For here, nothing at all. I'm still waiting...
  12. Where is Boston's results? I was thinking that they were going to send the results today. Waiting is hard... ?
  13. @AnheléNo, en verdade hablo del programa de Spanish with a concentration in Literature or Linguistics. No les pregunté sobre Escritura Creativa. Pero creo que no hay problema en contatar con el programa, caso tengas un potencial advisor con quien pueda hablar. ¡Buena suerte!
  15. @caromella So they probably won't do an interview, will they? ? It's one of the results I'm most looking forward to... However, I know there's so hard! Good luck to everyone!
