    Waiting on a waitlist decision from SFSU, and the University of Montana. If I don't get accepted I think I may end up just applying for the next cycle! I don't feel super disappointed, this was my first time applying and as an art history major I didn't have a ton of advice from professors or other artists. So I feel like I've actually learned a lot from applying this time around in what I want from a program and where I want to go.

    Just got my snail mail rejection from VCU painting/printmaking today! I live in the west so it was delayed compared to some others I saw on the east coast. Not surprised as I haven't heard anything from them this whole time, kind of nice to just definitively rule them out tbh. Also talked to one of my professors today about my offer from MICA and have officially decided to turn down their offer based on her advice, just can't justify spending that much on grad school.

    I'm in a similar position and wondering the same thing. I've only been accepted to MICA (Multidisciplinary) which is really expensive. It just doesn't seem feasible to leave school with so much debt. I've talked to my art history professors, my partner, and friends who've gone to grad school who all agree that it's a huge risk to pay such a big price for grad school, especially when there are cheaper options available. Basically I'm just hoping on of the two schools where I'm waitlisted, SFSU and University of Montana (both painting), will accept me because they're much cheaper. I'm trying to rationalize that it wouldn't be a big deal to just reapply next cycle but that is a disappointing prospect ?

    I sent an email to MICA inquiring about receiving additional funds, and this is the format I followed!     Just got my admissions offer from MICA (Mount Royal)!! Exciting, but even after the 17k a year they've offered me, it'll be ~33k per year to attend. Definitely not doable or worth it in my opinion so I will see if I can get more funding from them but have no idea how to go about that! ?

    Just got an email from SFSU, waitlisted for Painting after interviewing this past Wednesday. They said they'd let me know if my waitlist status changes by April 5th.

    Oh wow, congrats!! Did they email you? Also, did you already interview with them?

    Oh interesting! Hmm that's definitely trickier and it's hard when you don't know how they'll respond to you reaching out, but in the case that your contact person is on leave, I really think that makes it fine to reach out to them ?‍♂️

    Nothing yet! Even with all the VCU interviews I've seen on this forum I don't know if any of them have been with the painting/printmaking department.

    With all of the programs I applied to there was a contact email provided on the program's webpage, and if not, I got an email after I applied that was like "Hi, we've received your application please reach out to ___ with any questions" and provided a contact email there!

    I reached out to a few programs and received mixed responses, I reached out to UCI and they didn't respond and rejected me lol but I reached to the university of Montana and they told me that I was number one on their waitlist! If you reach out through the right channels it seems like it's not a bad option at all!

    Just got my rejection notice from UC Irvine. Huge disappointment as that was my top choice :/ Also feeling hurt that they didn't even email me or respond when I reached out with a question a few weeks ago! hahaha I'm glad at least to know one way or the other.

    Those are good points!! And good questions ? Honestly none of it matters if I get into UCI (that's my top choice) but we will see what this week holds! I bet a lot of people in this forum are going to get responses this week!

    I reached out to the University of Montana (applied for the painting program) just to see where they're at with things because Colorado State wants me to let them know whether or not I'm accepting their offer this week and found out I'm in the first position on the waitlist which I was surprised by! She said I have a high chance of getting accepted but I like the professor's work from CSU more so than I do from UM. Montana would definitely be a cheaper place to live though! Does it matter how much you like the professor's work you'd be learning under? That's been a huge factor so far for me in deciding where to go but I'm wondering if it actually matters?

    No worries at all! On that note I've kind of considered removing MICA from the running, to me it just doesn't make sense financially ? At least most people have heard crickets so far! That makes me hopeful I haven't been completely removed from the running ?

    Has anyone heard back from UC Irvine?? I was accepted to CSU and wanted to try to reach someone at UC Irvine to get an update because they're my top choice and so far I haven't heard anything back, it's been a couple days and I'm sort of panicking because I'm supposed to let CSU know by next week ?

    Just got an offer to Colorado State University-painting! They offered me a graduate teaching assistantship in my second year and I guess living in Utah qualifies me for an in-state tuition program they have. I'm waiting to hear back from MICA after my second interview with them and I have an interview tomorrow with San Francisco State University so I'm like ah!! What to do! ? CSU wants me to let them know by the end of Feb (like a week from now) and I haven't even heard back from UCI, VCU or University of Montana lol

    I posted this on the results page https://www.thegradcafe.com/survey/ as well but this week I interviewed with Colorado State, received a second round interview invite from MICA, and was invited to interview at San Francisco State! MICA-Multidisciplinary Art (Mount Royal) and the other two for MFA Painting! I'm super excited and thought the CSU interview went really well! I actually didn't think the MICA interview went that well so I'm surprised to have gotten a second interview invite. Like many others, still have not heard back from VCU or UCI ?‍♂️?

    Just got an an interview invite email from Colorado State at 9:30pm ? I don't remember seeing anyone else applying here but I thought I would post about it!!! I've interviewed with MICA and haven't heard back yet, and haven't heard anything at all from the other programs (VCU, UCI, U Montana, or SFSU).

    Ah dang, well maybe there's still a chance? My portal doesn't say anything either. ? I thought my interview with MICA went pretty well! ?‍♂️ It was only 15 minutes long, which seemed so short! She dove into questions right off the bat and asked why I want to go to grad school and a clarifying question about my work. I asked a couple questions and talked about some of the professors I was interested in and what kind of work I wanted to do in grad school etc. I was glad they told me who I was interviewing with too! My interviewer was Siobhan Liddell, and I really like her work so I was nervous!!
