I got my final letter today (just assuming VCU is a rejection since I never got an interview). It was my first time applying, rejected from six schools, admitted to two. Just heard back from MICA Painting that I'm admitted with a moderate scholarship. huge sigh of relief to not be refreshing my email every five minutes. Best of luck to everyone still waiting!

Just wanted to update for any MICA hopefuls that I had my interview with professor Waltemath on Saturday. She said there are way more people applying for the painting MFA than usual this year by a large margin, and speculated that maybe the pandemic was making everyone want to go back to school. I LOVED my interview with her, it was so much better than my SAIC interview. She was direct, had tons of questions prepared, and gave me great feedback. She says results will be out in two weeks.

I feel like I'm going crazy checking my email every five minutes, so I figured I'd update here. Rejected: Rutgers (are they ever gonna send out an official email? Shame on them) Interviews: SAIC (ultra nice faculty and great feedback, left feeling really positive), MICA (coming up this weekend) Accepted: UNM (with a preview of really exciting deal) Waiting: UW, VCU, UTK, RISD I figure I probably didn't get into UW, VCU, or RISD considering so many other folks have received interviews. Really crossing my fingers that I hear some news soon. Big digital hug to everyone going through this process. It's no joke.

Yep! They got an interview request for that program in a group email sent to several candidates. My portal doesn't say anything though so it's too soon to know for sure I suppose. How was your MICA interview? I'm excited they told me who I was interviewing with.

I'm applying for painting programs, as that was my undergrad degree. I've been out of school for a decade and working as a full time artist and art teacher. Here's my status: SAIC, MICA: interviews this week Rutgers: Rejected on portal (very anti-climactic!) UW, UTK, VCU, and UNM: waiting! I had a pal who got an interview from VCU on Friday so I'm pretty sure I haven't gotten that one either.

For anyone waiting on Rutgers results, check your portal. I didn't get an email, but I did get rejected. Oh well!
