  1. Hi all, Did anyone hear back from Yale regarding financial aid? Thanks ❤️
  2. Congrats to those who got accepted, very happy for you guys. Always rooting for the Gradcafe friends ??? If you got waitlisted like myself, or rejected. Keep your spirits up, may whatever is best for you comes your way ❤️ Status update: Yale, Graphic Design 3-year program, waitlisted (March 3rd, 2022). the final decisions will be out by April 30th (1 month and 3 weeks of nail biting for me ??)
  3. Hi everyone, posting updates for my Yale interview earlier today. Hopefully it can give future applicants some kind of comfort by knowing what to expect❤️ University: Yale Program: Graphic Design - Preliminary Program Applicant: International student, science background Application deadline: Jan. 9 (4 days extension due to Covid) Interview invite: Feb. 2 (email notification to check the application status through the portal) Interview dates: Feb. 18, 22, or 23 (we got to choose the suitable date and time through the portal) you will do two interviews, a formal one with faculty, and a non-formal one with students. one day before the interview, you will receive an email with the faculty and student names that will be interviewing you, along with zoom links. I was interviewed by 6 faculty members, very nice and conversational interview. Basic questions, they will not challenge you or test your knowledge. Just asking general questions about your plans, and why you chose the school and other questions related to the pieces you’ll be presenting. The interview is 35 minutes (15-20 min. to showcase 4-6 of your pieces and talk about them, the remaining is for questions). I had my non-formal student interview 10 minutes after the faculty interview. The purpose of this is for you to ask questions about the university, program, community etc. my interview was with 2 students for 20 minutes. Both were very friendly and helpful. Expecting to hear final decisions by next week, hoping for the best ??
  4. Hi tmng, I have an interview with Yale on Wednesday too, and I can’t help but be nervous about it :’) ! If you don’t mind sharing, how many people attended the interview? and what was the dynamic of the interview like (question/answer or more friendly/conversational?) Good luck with your interview! sending positive thoughts to whoever is reading, we’re almost there ☉(๑ • ̀ ㅂ • ́) ง ✧☉
  5. Hi Mitchel, I’ve been meaning to thank you for your great help in a while now, so thank you!! I have an interview with Yale in a few weeks, hope you received an invitation too best of luck!
  6. Thank you☺️! I’m in the preliminary program, wbu? My interview will be a bit late Feb. 23rd -I got too excited and somehow thought it’s a good idea to schedule the interview in my bd lol- we’ll see how it goes… anyone with interview tips please share ❤️
  7. Hi, Great to see a fellow graphic designer here ! congrats on your interviews, I also have an interview with Yale. Regarding the works to be presented during the interview, I’m planning to choose 5 pieces from my submitted portfolio since I feel those are the ones that best represent me. Do you have an idea if the informal interview (with a current student) will be part of the final decision? Or is it for asking questions about the program, their experience etc. best of luck!
  8. Hello, I'm a non-art major international student, and I'm planning to apply for an MFA in Graphic design at Yale upcoming January. I have a BS in Genetics and I've always been passionate in Graphic design. I've been freelancing for quite a while and most of the work I've done is commercial. When it comes to my portfolio....I'm super nervous and I do not know where to start. I would really appreciate if you guys can help me out in terms of what type of work should I include (poster, book, branding projects, 3d modeling, animation, ui/ux design, typography, packaging... etc.) and the number of works you recommend submitting (up to 20 is max). I know this can be different from one person to another, but all your input will be extremely helpful to at least sort out my thoughts! Thank you all in advance and wishing all a fruitful admission season *virtual hugs*
