If I haven't heard anything from Harvard, does that mean waitlist or my app got transferred to another dept like History of American Civ or Af Am Dept? Thnaks in advance

Hello everyone....I've been reading all of the posts o far and have finally decided to post myself! Congrats to all who have been accepted somewhere and good luck to the rest who, like me, are still waiting!!!! I was wondering if anyone knows when Harvard will start letting people know?!?!?! I have such a good fit there and I am hoping this will be the break I get...Thx in advance!!!

I looked on the website and it says that the book review needs to be no more than 2 pages. Does this mean two pages double spaced or single spaced? Thanks

Annette Gordon-Reed is sooooo amazing!!!!! Her work is beautiful!!!!!!

I mentioned my race because that was what attracted me to my research. I am a product of a strong Black woman who is a descendent of of a lineage of other strong Black woman that have had their voices muted in history. That is my connection to my research. To simply wish this connection away is doing an injustice to the work I want to study. If a program rejects me for it, then I know that program wasn't the best for me. The reason why I want to study this work in a History department instead of an African American studies dept. is because I want to interact with members of the academic community that haven't been exposed to this type of work. I will get into a great History PhD program and this research will impact the world. I was really hesitant to be this forthright, but the forum was taking a turn n a direction that was unhealthy. The reactions from some of you has reassured me that this research is needed. It has also proven to me that the personal connection researchers have with their work shouldn't be shunned, but applauded. It is this connection that keeps us motivated to do more in the face of resistance. Thank you everyone for your support.

I contacted Gordon-Reed and she told me I could mention her as a POI. I am really hoping her or Higginbotham are receptive of me because Harvard's History Dept. seems like a great fit for me with Gordon-Reed, Higginbotham, Walter Johnson, and President Faust

Hello, I am an African-American male and recent graduate from a well-respected school and I am applying this fall to History PhD programs! I majored in History related fields, completed theses on historical topics, took a few history courses, but I did not formally major in History. I have over a 3.8 in my majors and over a 3.6 overall GPA. I recently took the GRE and received a 620V and 670Q. I really want to attend either Harvard, Yale, Columbia or Princeton to study 19th U.S. history, more specifically during the Civil War era. I am interested in the way the Civil War impacted the African American woman's citizenship rights. At Princeton, I really want to work with Tera Hunter. At Harvard, I really want to work with Annette Gordon-Reed/Higginbotham, At Yale, Edward Rugemer. At Columbia, Eric Foner. Please give me some feedback!!!! Thanks
