I guess so? They invited me to the zoom event and I asked to make sure it wasn't a mistake and they said it wasn't, I should definitely attend, and the letters are on the way. So I guess that's an unofficial acceptance. Of course so many factors go into who they can take, especially with the joint department model. Making the shortlist is a huge accomplishment!
Anyone heard anything from UPenn? Haven't heard anything about interviews.
Out of curiosity, does GRE make a difference? I got 167 verbal 165 math and 4.5 AW. I only submitted where it was required bc I felt like only my verbal was good and even then doesn't add much – I feel like you can tell I have adequate verbal abilities from my transcript/writing samples. Plus they charge per school. However, I'm finding that I'm getting a better response from where I did submit my scores even though they're nothing special. What do you all think?
Hi all! Got a zoom request yesterday from Yale for FMS/Art History dual phd with the film studies DGS. I also had a zoom chat with a Columbia art history professor mid-December, which was kind of awkward (I tend to get very nervous on zoom even though I prepared for it pretty excessively haha). Both have been framed more as an opportunity for me to ask questions than for them to ask me about my application or do what would be typical interview questions and are brief. Neither used the word "interview" either. The PhD application process never ceases to confound me but hopefully we'll all have results soon!
