  1. If there are any Canadian applicants on here, I wanted to let them know that I will be accepting my fiction spot at UVic and declining my spots at UBCO, UNB, and UAF. Also taking myself off the UW-Seattle waitlist. I haven't heard from Guelph yet, but they've already sent out acceptances from what I understand so I assume rejection anyways. Good luck friends.
  2. Hey y'all, this is not a very pressing update, but for any current UW Seattle waitlisters, I sent an email yesterday asking for an update and reiterating my enthusiasm (trying my best not to just say "please let me in please") and they say that basically nothing has changed. Fingies crossed for this one!!!!!
  3. There was only one other UAF post on Draft besides myself, and I also posted results on here, so I think it's tough to guess this year's cohort size based on results, but it's so exciting to see that you're leaning towards UAF. If I were offered funding, it would help my own decision along a lot easier and I wouldn't be leaning on my Seattle waitlist as hard.
  4. Thank you for posting this info! I have yet to get in contact with UAF because yesterday was a lot for me, but I was meaning to ask similar questions about the funding waitlist. Did she mention if it was ranked? I would love to attend Fairbanks and their program, but money
  5. I got this too! It seemed kind of spammy, so I was worried about opening it initially, but we have definitely been admitted!! A little bummed about being waitlisted for funding because I'm intl and not going to be able to consider the program if I'm not offered funding, but crazy cool to have an acceptance from UAF. Perhaps we will be in the same cohort come September.
  6. I saw a post about Alaska Fairbanks in Draft; has anyone else heard any noise from them?
  7. Hey congrats! I was also recently accepted to an MA in English w/ CW concentration program and I discussed some differences with a prof of mine recently. One of the pros, IMO, is that you have an easier in to a PhD program. This is good for you if you are interested in sticking around academia for a while longer, and more schools seem to be looking for PhDs to hire profs if that's a job market you're looking to get into. Another pro is that you still get to do your creative thesis and come out with a publishable piece of work, and you still get a workshop environment, but you also get more work with applying theory to your writing because of the academic work you're doing. I'm keeping my MFA options open, but like you, I am also psyched about a possible MA path.
  8. I was considering doing this as I'm in a similar "no news anywhere" echo chamber at the moment, but you have successfully convinced me not to! Ignorance is bliss, I'm waiting for the exact minute I can delete my facebook and forget this website exists and never look at my portals again. How do people do this app cycle more than once????
  9. Does anyone know if the University of Victoria has a standard decision timeline? There's not a lot of info on here or on Draft.
  10. someone just posted about a UBC waitlist in Draft!!
  11. lol I emailed UVic asking this about a month ago (because UVic seems to have a weird and mostly undocumented decision timeline) and they never responded; I think this is worst case scenario. No harm but also probably won't get much out of them.
  12. Hey, I'm finishing my undergrad right now as an international so I can say that I've been accepted to one Canadian program, waitlisted at an american program (UW). I've also spoken with adcoms at another MFA program that has given me an unofficial acceptance, and when we discussed my application, they said that the only downside to my profile was the fact that I was straight out of undergrad. That being said, obviously strong applications trump where we are in our writing journey and if an adcom thinks you're ready for their MFA program, they'll admit you. I hope this helps and eases some nerves!
  13. (new here) I go to ubc and from what I understand, it will be any day now. I was talking to a prof about it recently. :)
