I have been fortunate enough to be accepted to this three schools, plus Syracuse and a couple of European programs. I never excepted to have any options at all, so I am confused as hell now. I applied to all of the programs because something appealed to me -the structure, capstone projects, location or all, but, for now, I am still waiting on funding decisions on a European school, Syracuse and UT, so I hope that helps me decide (funding is very relevant to me). I have been talking with some alumni from all of the programs and that has helped me realized not all of them have the same focus or career opportunities, and that has certainly helped. You should try to do it. Anyways, I am sure you'll get a great education wherever you choose.

I received the official letter from the graduate school via email last Friday, but I have not yet received an official notification from LBJ.
-
Thanks, mssyAK. I have aloready seen those links, but I was hoping to find something more comprehensive with costs added up to see how much funding should I proof to obtain the student visa for the US in case I decide to enroll at Wabner.
-
Do you know what's the total cost of attendance for the program? I couldn't find the number that states the total to see if it's financially viable for me to attend.
-
I am not sure, but I believe that CMU's and Duke's MPPs are more expensive.
-
Yep, I sent my application by this deadline and I am hoping they honour their 15 March deadline too...
-
i have not heard anything yet. it's the only school I am waiting for so I can make my decision!

Anyone NOT hear back from CMU MSPPM yet?
CC139 replied to UrbanWonk's topic in Government Affairs Forum
I received an email saying that a decision had been made and to view it I had to go Apply Yourself website and it had a link with the desicion letter. -
The official email comes from UT or from LBJ directly? is that the email where funding will be announced?
-
To all waiting for the MPAff decisions: they are out. I did not received an email, but I logged into the status website and it only says that you've been accepted and you should change your password. If it's of any help, my surname starts with one of the first 5 letters of the alphabet. Best luck to you all!
-
Don't worry, I don't think notifications have gone out for the MPAff at LBJ, so there's hope.

Documentation, visa and bureaucratic stuff
CC139 replied to tunicoberno's topic in IHOG: International House of Grads
Thanks a lot for your reply, bhikhaari! I was freaking out because of the large sum of money for the two years (I have some income in my country that we'll keep flowing, so I will not have it all when applying for the visa. Good luck for you too. You shouldn't have any problems -
Documentation, visa and bureaucratic stuff
CC139 replied to tunicoberno's topic in IHOG: International House of Grads
Guys, do you know if in order to get the student visa you have to provide means of sufficient funding for all the years of your studies or just for the first year? On the US embassy website of my country, it says that it's just for the first year, however, on the state department website says for the whole duration of the program. Which one is right? -
Congrats! Was it for the MGPS or MPAff?
-
Well, I tried to log in and check... but there's nothing different in my status page, just the same old stuff that has been there for a couple of months. But I am applying to the MPAff Does someone claim the LBJ admit on the results page?
-
I shouldn't worry about the optional essay. It was, after all, non-compulsory, so I hope it does not carry a lot of weight. I did not submit my GRE because I was so broke I couldn't afford to have it sent to an additional school, even though I took it well ahead of time and my scores were above average. I now see I should've sent it.

I thought that the non-fellowship applicants were going to hear yesterday... On the Wagner admissions page it says that decisions would be made by March 15, so we could have a whole week of waiting ahead of us.
-
I didn't apply here, guys, but good luck to you. I hope you all get in

Have you tried the courses at www.khanacademy.org? It is free and I am sure there is a course or two on linear algebra. The dude that teaches them is awesome!

I am myself an Ubuntu user, so no Windows vs Mac debate for me. However, I recommend that before you decide on anything, take a look at your schools IT department. I have found out that at a school I have been accepted, they only give support to Windows XP, Windows 7 and Leopard, so, if you buy anything different and you have trouble, then wont help. And they also have some deals for students, so you may want to check out before buying.

I think nobody is going to judge you because you don't drink, I mean, there's nothing to judge, it's just a personal decision. However, if you don't want to disclose it, you can always say you've been sick and are on a medication -even if you say all you've got is a mild cold. What is important is that you DO go to the meetings. You need to know your classmates and you could end up having a good time.

Programs with Rolling Admission/Summer Start NY or DC
CC139 replied to cocono's topic in Government Affairs Forum
If you're willing to consider a kind of broad program, look into Columbia's QMSS. Looks like it's a good feeder to other programs and has a rolling admission with an April deadline. -
It depends on the schools: some schools decide on funding when they decide on admissions, so they send you your acceptance letter with funding offer. Others -mainly those with rolling admissions that start making decisions before the application deadline- have a separate admission and funding allocation processes, so you may receive info separetely (I was admitted to one of the latter schools on Jan and they said funding decisions will be available mid-March).
-
I applied to the MPA without fellowships and have not heard anything yet. ON the results board, there are some results from past year on march 5th and 8th, so I hope we hear something soon!
-
I guess they will send you an email prompting you to go to the application website with your UT id -eid or simething like that- where you can find the decision letter.
