  1. I got accepted to Pratt for Painting/Drawing yesterday and to SAIC 5 days ago. I was rejected from Yale and haven't heard back from RISD and Columbia(assume rejection). Preparing for the MFA really stressed me out. But then I could get a lot of info here while I'd prepared the application and waited for decisions. I hope you guys will hear the good news.
  2. I had interviewed for two schools and sent thank you emails to professors. I didn't get a reply from the faculty of one school (but they read it), on the other hand, get simple thx replies from the other one. I was grateful to receive replies from them fr but I wouldn't mind that even if no one responded to thank you email. I think it's no more than an email written to your gratitude(and guess everyone sends it).
  3. Is anyone willing to share some info about Pratt's painting/drawing program interview? I'm just curious about the atmosphere and how many questions the faculty asked.
  4. Has anyone prepared a slide or images for an interview(painting)? What if there is no instruction about it? Should I prepare my portfolio as a slide?
  5. Congrats on finishing your interview! I have a SAIC interview tomorrow. I know an interview will be different from school to school, but can I ask you some questions? How many interviewers were there? And, Do you mean the research on the program or professor or what? I hope you get admission to MICA. Good Luck!
  6. Hi blueangel, congratulations! Mind if I ask you what discipline you applied? I applied to Pratt and RISD in painting programs. Did you mean final acceptances(after interviewing) from Pratt MFA? Also, I haven't heard from those schools, and from my guess (maybe I got a rejection from them), having an official transcript would be great news for you!
  7. Hi all. I got a rejection from Yale painting/printmaking. I'm waiting for the interview invitation from Columbia(Visual Arts) and Pratt(Painting and Drawing). Did anyone hear back from these programs?
  8. Congratulations! I also got an invitation mail today. From my guess, It wouldn't hurt to interview virtually. And I'm thinking of attending a virtual interview. Do you happen to know when we can receive specific instructions about an interview or schedule an interview time? (I didn't get any information about that, except the interview day) And should I let them know whether I'm gonna attend or not?--I found a link for scheduling.
  9. Thank you for your answer. I'm gonna apply to the painting program at SAIC. Based on your comment, it seems there is no need to write a description of each work if they are related to each other (I explained my older work and how it has led me to where I'm now in my SOP). Good luck!
  10. Hello guys! I'm working on my MFA applications, and I found that some schools have a description or an additional details section on a portfolio(slide room). I guess this part is to explain the material or media of the work. I want to give a detail of my works (painting series) regarding the idea or theme in two or three sentences, do you think it is unnecessary?
  11. Thank you for answering my question! I think I need to mail the admission office before I submit works in slideroom. And also, I'm going to edit the video work that I made several years ago and make some other pieces using various media.
  12. Hello everyone, I haven't decided on the MFA programs I want to apply to yet, but I'm looking at Yale(painting/printmaking), RISD(painting), Columbia(visual arts), and SAIC(Painting.&Drawing). I made videos, installations, and oil paintings during my undergrad. But I'm thinking about including only oil paintings with several series of my works in a portfolio(because my undergraduate thesis exhibition was of all oil paintings. And I've done oil paintings last six months). Here is the thing I'm afraid that is putting only oil paintings into the portfolio might not be a good idea. Should I put a few videos or installation pieces together with oil paintings or focus on the media(oil paints) that I deal with best in the portfolio?
