  1. Hi All, I recently received an acceptance to a great MA program in Education--this is happy news! In my official letter, it is mentioned that I have been assigned not one, but two faculty advisors. Someone I spoke with who is currently in the same program has indicated that he has only one advisor (his advisor would be one of my two advisors if I accepted). I was just wondering--and this maybe a silly question--is having two advisors for an MA student semi-common practice? Both faculty members' interests align with mine, so they seem like a good match. However, the faculty member I mentioned in my SOP is not one of these potential advisors. Should I be happy about this because (it should mean) I have more academic resources with which to succeed during my time there?
  2. Update: Got an email this morning from grad admissions at Tufts saying they are almost done making decisions and that they would be available online shortly. No exact date communicated. I'm anxious to hear back no matter what the verdict. Good luck all!
  3. Just checking in again--anyone hear from Tufts? I saw one acceptance to the Masters program (instead of PhD) on the results page. I myself am looking for Masters results, thinking the PhDs probably get notified first?
  4. I got that one, too. Do either of you know around when we would hear back? I think I remember it being March?
  5. I'm still waiting to hear back from UT Austin as well--applied to MA in Early Childhood Education- Dept. of Curriculum and Instruction. I am not too worried because I did read that they don't expect to give decisions out until mid-March. I am getting impatient, though, because I applied back in November! I am tempted to call, but I don't know that they would give me any other answer than, "Wait until March." That being said, is it March yet?
  6. I applied to the MA with thesis. I was referring to the "GTAship." It is Tufts way of getting grad students to work at the lab school. I would like to get more applied experience, but I think I would like to focus more on research and classes (like you) with the possibility of an internship in an outside organization. As for the tuition--it would be a swell deal.
  7. I also thought about applying for the GAship at the lab school, but decided against it because of the scheduling difficulties that would come along with it. I'm also looking to do research. I hadn't noticed the tuition explanation until you pointed it out, but I am reluctant to think that the entire program would be 38k--the wording is definitely confusing. A scholarship would be awesome! Do you know if Tufts is usually pretty generous with tuition scholarships?
  8. I applied to Tufts for the Child Development program--haven't heard anything yet! I looked at the Results page of the forum not too long ago and it looks like people are typically notified between mid-February to early March. I want to hear now!!!
  9. I also quit my job back in June; took some community college classes last semester while applying to programs, and now I am just, ya know, living with my parents, constantly checking my email, or looking for fellowships/scholarships to apply to while sometimes doing yoga. Ah, the life I always dreamed of (not at all). I've had a couple of job interviews for really great places, but every time they ask me about my immediate future plans I can't lie! For whatever reason, employers much prefer a two-week notice to a 6-month one. I better get into grad school because it's really messing up my job prospects right now. I do have some savings and would love to do some traveling this summer as well. Going back to Spain, where I studied abroad a few years back, is at the top of my list. Who knows if it will happen, though. For those traveling--where are you headed?
  10. Seriously! It's fast-approaching. I applied to one of my schools back in November for financial consideration, so now everyday I think: "Haven't you all had enough time to think this through?! Just give me an answer!" At this point, I just want to know!
  11. I applied to the Masters program in the very same (Curriculum and Instruction) department back in November. Waiting to receive a response is driving me crazy! Good luck to you both--hopefully we find out soon!
  12. I just discovered that UT Austin has admissions stats on their Status Check site.... The process of finding it is kinda random... Login to your status check, scroll all the way down to "Admissions" and click to select. Once you've got the new page loaded, click on "My Grad School." From here, you can access stats from as recently as 2009. From what I can tell, 209 people applied to your program in 2009, and 109 were admitted. 81 ended up attending. I didn't check to see if there's anything on funding, but I hope this helps! I have been searching all over the web to see when UT Austin generally posts their admissions decisions, so let me know if you've got anything on that. I'm assuming it's April 15th since I can't find it anywhere...
