Does anyone have a “unit loan” on their package from Yale? That sounds confusing 🥸

I emailed about a week ago but didn’t get a response yet. Maybe calling by phone is an option?
-
Hmm, I got a decision last week. Perhaps, they send it to internationals first 🤔

Hey! I was not able to attend in person as well and only had zoom interviews. Imo it is good in some ways bc being in a familiar setting and not worrying about travel time is definitely helpful. I’d probably recommend to practice answering some questions that are very likely to come up. If you’re nervous, maybe even try recording your responses and then listening to it – it might help to define weaker points and make improvements. Besides, I found this post from 2017 quite informative. I’d say that the majority of questions that I was asked are covered here: https://forum.thegradcafe.com/topic/87156-2017-mfa-interview-thread/ And one additional tip: having a cup of warm liquid helps to soothe the throat before the interview, my voice was definitely less shaky and more confident after a few sips of hot water! Good luck!!

Heyy, yes I am an international too! Yes, I got 50%, but still debating whether to commit or not bc I got one offer that is slightly more tempting, soooo yeah. In the beginning it was the struggle of getting in, now it’s the fear of investing in the wrong program 😅 What about you? Feel free to PM as well and congrats on your admission!!

Just rechecked the website, it says “Receive your decision starting mid-March” for Design at least, so hopefully we all can expect decisions on the next week..

Hey everyone! This year I’ve been applying for MFA programs (design concentration, first time, international), got a bunch of acceptances (and rejections lol) and now am kinda nervous about choosing the right one. I was filling out a standard MICA’s confirmation of admission letter receipt form and one of the final checkboxes struck me: “Space Availability: While we strive to accommodate all admitted candidates, spaces in the program are limited. Admission offers are made on a rolling basis until the program reaches capacity. In some cases, if a program reaches capacity candidates may be obligated to defer their acceptance to the following year, starting with the last received deposit. Accordingly, we encourage candidates to accept their offer promptly to guarantee space is available in the program.” I was planning on making my final decision closer to early/mid April, but now I feel slightly anxious bc apparently you can be admitted but still not get in? That’s confusing. Anyone has any advice/thoughts on that and when is best to accept the offer?

Pretty good, slightly more rigorous than in art schools that I was interviewing with, but that’s the tendency that I’ve noticed with all big/public/research universities. My online interview lasted about 40 minutes, they had a list of questions about my work, interests, and goals in relation to Rutgers being a multidisciplinary school. All in all, nothing unexpected, but I don’t know how much different the Design process is from the one for Visual Arts, so take my experience with a grain of salt : ) Hope that helps, good luck this Friday!

Interviewed with the Design faculty about a week ago, it was mentioned that they will “get back in March”. I’m assuming that they do wait till all of the interviews are done and then make final decisions. Maybe that’s the case for the Visual Arts program as well, but I cannot say for sure : )
