I called Fulbright yesterday and the letters for Albania will be mailed out this wednesday. Finally, its about time! Anyways, I wanted to know how big the envelope was for those that had been accepted, and how long did it arrive for those who live in NY or NYC (approximately how many days) Thanks!!!!!! Good luck to all the alternatives!

Being an Alternate is the worst!!!!!!!!!!!!! I feel for all of you, I hope I am rejected instead of being named an alternate. 5 students from my school are alternates. Tsk Tsk!

Can u call rachel holskin..she's the program manager for Europe and her number is on the fulbright site. I just canlt access it because im on my sidekick. Ask her if they will mail out deisions for albania this week. Please, and I promise ill call johnathan aekely again or for anyone else who need me to call

I called again and his rude secretatry picked up because he wasn't there today. I asked her when she expects them to mail out HK and she said not yet..and then she said she can't say because johnathan was there...I tried to get it out of her but she wouldn't even give me her own guess...ill try again 2morrow

Many of us have received acceptances to Master's and Doctoral programs as well as jobs; therefore we cannot continue to defer these offers. Some of us have also lost job opportunities because we have deferred these offers in hope of being accepted as a Fulbright Scholar. that is definately not a bad idea, i remeber suggesting the same thing, but we need like 20 signatures, because 4 or 5 would not suffice. I say we write the letter and mail it to each program officer, and then find the director. We have to get a tally on who is in and who is not. I say we say in or not and include the country I'm IN- Albania

could somebody find out how many alternatives are usually awarded.

so when you get the prized manila envelope, what does the letter inside actually say. I understand they give you some medical forms, but how bout research forms,( for any of you research grants). What do you expect next after you send the medical? Do they make you wait seven more months? (I wouldnt be surpised) Does anyone know? (Not that I recieved anything in the mail yet..still waiting....)

I suspect that saturday or monday, people will be less anxious once they get some letters. That is the beauty of this forum, that we are all in this together. I think all of us want this fulbright so bad! We should join forces and write a letter to the State department urging them to hurry up!!!!!!!!!!!

When I called charles two days ago, he said another two week waiting time for India!

sounds reasonable!...but maybe i wont even get to that stage, where I would have the pleasure of performing those tests!!! UGH this is torture...

what are the specific blood tests that are required? (If you don't mind sharing)

I am tired of waiting for this scholarship!!!!!! It's always next week!!!!!! I am counting down and if no letter arrives next week, I will call Fulbright and demand that I know. This wait is now ridiculous. A lot of people have lost opportunities waiting for this scholarship to make their decisions. I mean how long does the state department take to just say yes!!! unbelievable!!!!!!

I called Charles! He has such a low voice that I kept saying "what?" He sounds like he is giving you Russian secrets. Anyways, Bangladesh letters were mailed out last week. India letters will be mailed out in two weeks. I think the India estimate is bullshit, because thats what they always say. Next time I am going to ask to get it in writing! Good luck

Summernights, Thank you so much for calling them and asking about Albania. It helps me out a lot because there is no need to check the mail every day. The state department has not given the green light for like a month!!!!!!!!!!! However, I will have to wait until next wednesday. Thank you so much again, I owe you!

people should take into consideration that the manila envelope is probably mailed after 12, therefore delaying the time it would get to their house by a day.

Also for a majority of european countries such as Italy, letters are mailed from NEW YORK ONLY! good luck
