According to the draft spreadsheet last year, rejections and waitlists came out at the same time via email for everyone THATS HUGE OMG CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!

Only one fiction notification is on the draft, unsure about the implications of that but worth noting Wyoming, Naropa, CSU, CU Boulder, and CU Denver do a 5x5 reading series where the programs and cohorts get together and do readings, so maybe we could even meet that way! It also would just be so fun to be in a cohort with some of y'all lol I'll make sure to casually mention how much I love everything bagels and then you'll know

UNLV is so hard to predict tbh, they've been known to do secret waitlists, especially with CNF and to radically spread apart both acceptance notifs and rejections. It looks like this year they called two poetry admits the same day so I'm guessing that maybe they are doing it by genre? But I have no idea Edit to addendum because I don't want to spam the forum: AHHHH I scream with anticipation. I'm crossing my fingers and my whole body for good news regarding a GTA position from CSU, maybe today since someone on Friday got offered a position. I feel so close to the finish line but it's still just out of my grasp and it's making my stomach churn. Hoping for a flood of good news for all of us today.

I know you didn't at me, but I just found it and they're not on there. A lot of stuff targeted is in the sciences (which is scary), but it doesn't seem to be affecting MFA or arts programs generally other than WashU St Louis because it's their whole Arts & Science program. Some programs are having their whole grad programs targeted like Penn. You can find the spreadsheet pretty easily if you go to the gradadmissions subreddit. Also, CONGRATS @DakotaSt!!! ❤️

Well there’s 5 fiction spots this year so you never know! Things shake out in crazy ways and maybe we could end up in the same cohort! It’s so hard to keep expectations tempered 😭 I’m a painful optimist and I’m trying to be reasonable but at least it’s a temporary time of stress and mystery

Draft shows that a CSU poetry admit got a GTA offer on Friday, which puts me on edge that either they went out and I didn’t get one OR maybe I’ll get good news Monday? I hope? I’m so so thrilled by CSU’s program and they’re my top choice but without funding I couldn’t take it :((( Huge congrats to hzu if they’re here, that’s a great combo of schools!

What programs do y'all think we’ll hear from this coming week? I’ve got Wyoming and UNLV on my radar, and I know at this point it’s kind of all kind of starting to enter free game territory.

That's a great plan! Also, no writing is wasted writing. If you're driven to keep working on your novel, you totally should and that's not to say you can't work on short stories at the same time! The life of a writer is full of rejections and it's best to practice it often so you don't lose your calluses lol For this season though, you're still in the running so don't count yourself out!

I substantially revised one of the stories I submitted last round, did smaller revisions to another that got published between my first round and now, and then an entirely new one that I only sent out to two programs in addition to a revised one. (I sent each program two short stories) I will say, the revisions were needed and made for a much stronger application. I think it really depends on what you've got locked and loaded. My stories I submitted this time are my most polished pieces and I gave them a lot of revisions. I've gotten in with both my revised pieces and my new one, but there's no way to really know until you do it. Just send what you think is your strongest. I think reading craft books like "A Swim in a Pond in the Rain" and even "Elements of Style" have really helped me polish my work for resubmission this round. I hope that you hear good news soon! I'm also a big plan b person lol

I'm sorry you're having a hard time and facing that dreaded wall of rejections. I will say, you still have two left! My first round, I got a waitlist at the very end. I applied to 10 schools and got waitlisted at 1 that never panned out and rejected from all the others. I took a couple of years off between because I wasn't sure that I was ready for the taxing (mentally and financially) journey of applications so soon. I used revised versions of stories I submitted last round and one new piece, and they've been well received so far! It's not over until it's over and it's okay if you need to step back from the process if it doesn't work out this time. Be easy on yourself and it's okay to feel whatever it is your feeling. ❤️

Fingers crossed its good results!! A lot of non EST places call later as well and some places seem to reach out after office hours so the day is young yet!
