Sounds like you're up my alley, I also want to study protein structure, function and evolution, although I'm interested in predicting it on computers.

I think if I don't get in this year, I will try again next year. If I don't get in then, then I'll probably stop and find a higher paying job.

I agree, when I was finishing undergrad I did not know specifically what I was wanting to study. So taking that in mind (and a not so good GPA that I want to cover up with other nicer things), I spent the last 2 years working full time research, taking a class and attending many seminars in order to specify what field to which I wanted to apply. Definitely helped.

I've been trying to lose weight, but I like baking when I'm nervous. I really want to try making some lavender cocoa cupcakes with blueberry frosting.

Just remember, every day that goes by without being informed of any decision increases the chances that you'll find out tomorrow!

I love Firefly, but kept it off the list because I've never actually seen it broadcast. I joined the cult late, once I bought the DVDS. I am considering doing a Firefly/Serenity marathon soon. Start at 9-10 AM and watch them all in order with 10 minute breaks in-between.

I really think that if you have to interpret your status they haven't decided yet. I'd bet that when they've made final decisions, it would be quite obvious where you are.

WOOHOO! I am completely obsessed too, I'd probably be online far more often if I didn't have to work. Well, I'd be online while sitting in a lawn chair near the mailboxes.

Y'know what's the worst part about all this? We're spending lots of money to get in, then living on next to nothing for at least half a decade, then we're going to finally get a job in which we're so specialized that we still don't get a lot of money. OOoo, wait, I know this comic!

I wouldn't be able to go without funding. I am fine going to any of the schools I applied to, otherwise I would not have applied there. With my 5 years experience in a lab, I doubt I wouldn't get, at least, an RA

I would love it if when they came to my file they got into a huge argument: Prof A: He's good, I want him as a student! Prof B: But I picked up his file first, I want him! Prof C: I'm going to call seniority and claim him as mine!" so on and so forth It'd be a nice confidence booster

I know how strong the urge is to contact people. I really feel like I'm doing nothing right now and I hate not doing anything else towards such a life changing decision. But I really think it'll be for the best, you don't want to come off as obnoxious, needy, or say something stupid.

Sounds like a challenge to me.
