  1. I say 'yes'. but based on how you asked I think you have an answer to your own question.
  2. I have a prof that gets mad when I DON'T call her by her first name. But I think she is a exception to a rule. Most profs will let you know.

My thought is i understand it more subjective but...the school I applied to said that they don't start looking at them til January 31 and I applied back in NOV.
  7. The school I applied to need the FAFSA and something called Need Access. They said to do it before admission and that was the only way to receive funding.
  8. I think I might really go to Disney World...I haven't been in a while
  9. 1. Tell my mom 2. Post it on facebook 3.Go out to dinner w/ mom 4. Call my girls 5. Write to my profs 6. Go out to dinner w/ girls 7. Buy something from said school 8. Scream 9. Sleep In that order
  10. I'm applying to an arts program. So like American Idol there is no set criteria...I just have to hope one of the judges likes me!
  11. I think some of the people who are saying don't get involved are not trying to deny the unethical situation. I think they are thinking about the OP. What happens to her if she tells? Will that affect her if the girl gets called on it and she says the OP is the liar? And it might be that this girl is just crazy enough to lie about writing her own LORs and just wants attention. But I respect that this is a personal choice...no matter what
  12. I think people are nervous. Besides we're all in this together. Email notification changes from school to school. I hate to say it but there's no sure fire way to tell.
  13. I took screenwriting and creative writing classes in high school. I loved it! However, I saw college as an opportunity to spread my wings, try new things, you know all the cliches. So I studied American Studies, which I also love. It gave me research experience and the opportunity to study things that interested me. I knew that I would come back to screenwriting and film after college. That why I am now applying for a film MFA.
  14. I've heard of people backing out after 4/15. I think it's a case by case thing. More importantly it's YOUR education and money (depending on the finaid package) you should do whats best for you.
  15. I break out the LORs I have permission to read whenever I feel down.
  16. I hope no one thinks I'm criticizing the number of schools you've chosen to apply to. I just wonder if it's easier for different people depending on the number they chose to apply to... I respect everyone's decision.
  17. Do you feel more relaxed since you applied for that many schools?
  18. Out of sick curiosity... How many schools have people applied to? The most I've heard of is 22 and the least being 1. P.S. I am wasn't going to mention the number of schools I applied to b/c of silly superstitions. However I'll admit it..I applied to 1....I'm ok with that cause I am able to relax now and focus on one app...but I see so many people on the blogs nervous about applying to 10 schools and I wonder what's wrong. :?:
  19. Well the consensus is that word limits are an 'at your own risk' situation. I think we can all agree on that...right?
  20. What you did isn't too bed...its the people who think that when a school asks for 250 words and they turn in 1,000 words who worry me. What makes them think the adcomm won't notice?
  21. you're on the livejournal blog too....yeah dude that's horrible!!! I would be so upset

Why does it seem like we have the earliest deadlines and the latest decisions?
  23. MFA in film..don't wanna talk about what schools cause I'm superstitious.
  24. Dude I understand. A program I applied to was the same way which REALLY made it tough to wait. And I know profs are busy but you're dependent on them so it can be frustrating.
  25. Luckily I asked my lor writers in September for a letter I needed for November. But still it took on of my people till the last minute to get back to me. The application was due Monday and she overnighted her letter Friday. Now I say this to say a friendly email changes everything. Just a hello thank you and my due date is can move things along. I think it'll be ok. Good luck
