  1. HI...I'm the one who posted. The summer thing is an iffy thing for me too. But I think I can use the free time to study other things or travel. I'm going to accept but I want to email the program director with a few questions first. Hope this helps. Good luck!
  2. 2 outta 3. The 2 that shared were tenured PHDs...so they have reached the point in their career where they can do anything!
  3. I was down earlier this week but all of a sudden I have a burst of optimism. No good reason why just feel better. I wish us all luck!
  4. I'm getting spam from the SCHOOL!!! So I check my email and get all excited just to see an invite to some event! :x I'm losing my mnd!
  5. Non- cartoons are more then cool. I used to love old school nick. And power rangers was cool too. the point was to distract us from apps. Worked didn't it?
  6. I bought Darkwing Duck on DVD! One of my fave childhood shows. I have every intention of watching it all to distract my mind from my waiting app. This got me thinking I wonder if any one else remembers the simpler times of Saturday morning cartoons and recess. I remember Tiny Toon Adventures, Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers, Tale Spin,Pepper Ann, Doug, Animaniacs and Freakazoid.... What about you? What were your cartoon faves?
  7. It's just nice to hear about your success! Congrats..your story make me warm and fuzzy...and trust me I NEED it.
  8. Torrid.com- coupons Horoscopes Bath and Body Works CareerBuilder.com Never anything good
  9. We're assuming that the schools have a small enough amount of applicants that they can even remember who applied let alone why they didn't take them. We're also assuming that the reason is something useful. Some schools have GPA GRE cutoffs. Art schools are WAY subjective. So I guess if the school you applied to had a small number of apps then I guess they can help you out. Otherwise you're just another app in the stack.
  10. I'm giving myself till the end of Feb B4 I completely go off my rocker .... As a play off of Tiny Toons character GoGoDoDo "Cuckoo! Cuckoo! Waiting for grad school responses will make you cukoo cukoo!"
  11. Just tell them that Monday is a good day for you..no explanation needed. There could be a whole list of reasons and I doubt they expect you to free your schedule in a moments notice.
  12. This sounds odd but I don't like information that doesn't allow me to change my situation. Like when teacher's put comments on how to improve a paper that you can't rewrite. Some would argue that you could take that info to the new paper...or the info about why you got rejected to the new app. The problem is each paper and app is completely different and new. For example if you don't get in b/c of you writing sample do you turn in a different writing sample or try to make the old one better? I hope this makes sense. :?:
  13. Look and see what classes the school offers and which ones you would be interested in and ask about them. Also ask about artist you are interested in.
  14. Congrats...feel free to send the good vibes our way
  15. Go to site. Read Refresh Repeat...Trust me http://nielsenhayden.com/overlord/
  16. If you consider that the average TV show runs about 22-30 mins Just think of your wait as five episodes of your fave sitcom..it helps to watch said TV show
  17. Which MFA? Bringing your portfolio is a great idea. Making sure you know the profs. you want to work with and the ones interviewing you. That's all I have for now...I'm not helpful am I?
  18. I think I'm a true procrastinator but this whole application process may have proved me wrong. Everything I did was early...I'm responsible!!
  19. 3.3 and proud!! Especially when I started my college career w/ a 1.6!
  20. Columbia Film- Nothing Good website for film students http://www.studentfilms.com/
  21. First off CONGRATS!!! Secondly just treat it like a regular interview. Have some questions prepared and just be yourself...Good luck
  22. I'm not the most sensitive person so the only thing I end up saying is 'that sucks'. My dad died when I was young too but won't pretend to understand what you're going through... On a diff note- Mom has been supportive but she doesn't completely understand the stress. Oh well
  23. Actually I get the feeling less people are going to apply due to lack of funding...
  24. I think we're doing this to make light of a bad thing....right? I've heard a horror story of a rejection starting off w/ congratulations....that's just messed up!
