  1. So I'm confused then. I applied miramar and coast (which i obvi won't get). I will be guaranteed housing by the time I need to move-in, right? Or am I wrong? Also, they had told me that they randomly assign me a roommate unless I know of someone and we go in together? Is this also correct?

I just emailed them regarding my status, and they just hit me with a flat out rejection... wtf.

    Anyone else call this afternoon/evening?

I don't see this "Follow Stats" thing... Is that bad? I wonder if they have even looked at it. Did any of the in-Limbo-ers get an email or anything saying they were still reviewing your application?

That's what we've been discussing for the last 10 pages.... I have gotten NO emails whatsoever regarding the NSF

Sounds like, by my gut instinct, that there rest of us in limbo will be getting HMs... Sucks.

After like 5 months after submitting my app, I am still waiting - and what the hell does an HM give you anyway?

I agree... They haven't granted any honorable mentions - chances are that we all fall into that category.

I'm too scared to call the number, anyone want to pretend they are me and call for me?

Honestly, do they really have the funding to almost double the amount of awardees? That doesn't seem right...?

I never received an "in limbo" notice... Also, they haven't awarded any Honorable Mentions... Don't you think due to the shear number of those awarded HM's, that most of them will come in this second pool and very few actual full awards will be in this second pool? They've already given 950.... I can't imagine they'd add many more.
  12. I'm doing graduate housing... Anyone worried about how to get a roommate blindly placed in your room (if you're doing 2-br)?
  13. Hi, so here's my deal, and i may have acted to hastily... I'm pretty sure i'm going to UCSD. I will be bringing my car. I already applied for Miramar as my first choice, coast for my second and third. That said, which is the best location for someone who wants easy access to campus and other social activities. Additionally, is it a bad idea to put yourself in a 2-bedroom if you're going in blind for a roommate? I don't know anyone else going to UCSD but want to pay cheaper rent. Is this a bad idea? Lastly, should I consider another alternative knowing I do have a car?
  14. Are there currently any fellowships for incoming graduate students whose deadlines haven't passed? Seems like most were in January, but are there any currently open?
  15. I am 99% sure I will be attending for Bioengineering PhD Program... Can't wait for the so-cal weather!
  16. hah.... Ditto. I'll give u this though, my resume's most influential statistic is the ability to maintain a saltwater fish ecosystem and ability to maintain a constant, healthy nitrogen cycle. That already puts anyone's stats to shame.
  17. to The_student: I don't know that because they sent interview invites, that the people who are getting these are automatically in. They must also have a good interview and their admittance is contingent upon it. Isn't that right? You implied that the person in the admissions office believes that the people going to be interviewed are technically accepted. Correct me if I'm wrong? If i am right, then you still have chances if they are going to be rejecting interviewees.
  18. Anyone hear from USC BME or Stanford CHEME?
  19. So, I called Stanford Chemical Engineering last Friday. The graduate coordinator informed me that they have a new admissions committee and that decisions are taking longer than normal, sorry for waiting. I am waiting on WashU BioE... And all other schools that I have applied to and haven't gotten rejected, accepted, or interviewed. This is going to be a big week, good luck everyone.
  20. At this point, Tati, it may be in bad taste to do that, as they know that you know that they are probably reviewing your application. I believe most decisions happen in the first two weeks of February. Where all did you apply?
  21. Well I don't know about that considering my interview is a month after yours.
  22. I'm not sure. Last I knew they were "reviewing them a week ago." You should try calling them anonymously and see if they are still reviewing and let me know hahahaha. I'm so tired of trying to figure this kind of thing out... It just gets me more anxious. Edit: just received an invite not 5 minutes ago... karma!
  23. All I know is that UPenn, Berkeley, Stanford, UCSD and WashU have sent out some interview invites thus far.
  24. Haha daddys_girl: Don't worry I received the same emails. I was so upset that it wasn't an acceptance letter, that I emailed them back telling them that I already applied in October. haha.
  25. I really think the biggest issue is knowing that your application is fully complete and interview invites and/or acceptances have been sent out. Yet, you have not received this letter nor a rejection letter. Makes you wonder where you're application is and what they are waiting for to tell you whether you have been accepted/rejected. I somewhat find it hard to believe they would spend so much time waiting to send a decision, as it leaves us so out of the loop and our self-esteem drops in response to literally NO response. Hence the problems I face right now - 2 schools I know have sent out invites, I have received none and no rejection. It's a state of flux and ambiguity. Any ideas why this would happen? I know some have said that it's a second look/pass at the application, or they are just waiting to reject you... Any other thoughts?
