Hello everyone! I know this is for 2026 SLP Admissions Prep, but I'm applying in 2027 and was hoping to get some insight with the experiences I have so far. I have doubts that I would get in on my first shot at applications, so I am already mentally preparing myself for that. In the meantime, I am wondering if someone can give advice with the experiences I have?
I'm in my third year doing an Honours in Linguistics and a minor in Psych. Last school year and a half, I volunteered as a mentor for a non-profit organization and last term I volunteered for a school SLP. This year, I plan to continue volunteering for that SLP and also volunteer for another SLP at a different school division. Come winter term, I hope to volunteer at a research lab. I am also an executive member at a club in my university for Linguistics.
I'm not sure if I should be doing more, but hopefully in the summer I can volunteer for other organizations. I plan to keep a 3.8-4.0 GPA this year.
Any thoughts if this is enough?
I was thinking if I don't get in my first time, I would extend my degree to 5-years and do research with a professor- I'm still contemplating if I should do it next Spring instead, but then again I'm unsure if what I am doing is not necessary. But anything to buff up my resume/cv helps.
Thank you for your help and best of luck to everyone applying!
