  1. No news yet. May be tomorrow. Friday sounds like a good day to announce results. Their website's FAQ says that the decision is usually reached by mid-February.
  2. UMass - Amherst is March 4th UTexas- Austin computer science is Feb 26th
  3. yea...good luck! you are gonna do good.
  4. accepted to northwestern's graduate program. Now this new idea of JD/PhD and money making is starting to grow in my head

  5. so far admitted to northwestern and UMass - Amherst
  6. just got admission decision from Northwestern through their application website. A generic letter of acceptance.
  7. According to the result survey, Purdue seems awfully quiet this year. In previous years, they seem to have given out quite a few admits by this time of the year; it could be that they are just not being reported.
  8. Since I saw a few admits in the result section, I thought I would ask. But, what you mentioned may be the case this year as well.
  9. I have not heard a single word from them since I submitted my application prior to Jan 6th deadline. Please post below if you have been accepted, interviewed, or had any other status updates. If you have been accepted or rejected, please share your stats (pub, recs, gpa, undergrad institution, gre, cs gre etc).
  10. I don't know about masters. I have applied to their PhD program and my conversation with the prof. was pertaining to PhD program.
  11. no interview. the e-mail was out of blue.
  12. got my acceptance e-mail today with invitation for graduate weekend. I am in computer architecture and programming language. This is the first school I have heard from. Relieved a little bit. I know what it is like to be waiting. Best of Luck to everyone. Hope all of us will hear from some univ we want to go.
  13. I just got a reply from a professor at Rice, whom I had been in touch with before applying. He informed me that they are at the last stage of making decisions, "finalizing them". So I believe Rice should be sending their acceptances soon.
  14. If anybody is interested, my area is programming language and parallel computing. Their department is so small, probably 7-10 new admits a year. So, I am not very hopeful since I have not been contacted by any prof. yet.
  15. Has anybody heard from Rice PhD program? I saw one post on the result section. Please post your stats (undergraduate institution, gpa, pub, research experience, GRE, CS GRE etc) if you have been interviewed or been accepted.
  16. I would happily devote my time gaining more research experience rather than studying for CS GRE, but I have no idea how to go about pursuing a research project as I have been out of college for over a year. So I thought taking a subject GRE would be a more appropriate way to strengthen the application during the year wait. If anybody knows of research opportunities/programs for students in computer science who have already graduated from college, please let me know; I would be grateful.
  17. I am thinking of taking computer science subject GRE next October/November if my application is not successful this year. Lets share some thoughts about how to best prepare for it. Also, share your experience taking the actual test - what was the result and how did you prepare for it? What books did you use? How did the actual test compare to the practice tests?
  18. I have applied to UIUC computer science PhD program as well and haven't heard a word from them. I see many admits on grad cafe results survey. Does that mean that I am rejected? I hope not.
  19. I see a lot of UIUC computer science acceptance. Does that mean I am rejected?

Not necessarily. See my comment in the Computer Science forum where you asked this question.

  20. Please do not consider the ensuing text as an expert's opinion. If I were you, rather than retaking the classes, I would take some graduate level courses and do well in them, thus demonstrating your ability to do well in courses required at the graduate level. Also, the choice of subject should be such that it supports your research interest. This will strengthen your case by showing your f...
