The other applicants who heard all received an email. You will need to be able to log into reserachnet, but you would have to do so when you submitted the application.

Sorry to hear this, Degelman. Congrats on your Masters defense though! Better luck if you apply next year...

stanvx - you realize that the discovery grants are professors, right? Just making sure.

Nothing for me either, NSERC. So, only a few CIHR rejections as of yet? Any SSHRC or NSERC, or CIHR success?

Two weeks to go! Does anyone know where on ResearchNet we will see the notification of the result?

Well, it is now Friday and 4:30 pm eastern time has passed. So, see you all Monday, and let's hope for some real news then!

May he is getting the Andre Hamer - then his name and photo go on the website! Could he be a top applicant?
-
Snoeshoes was just kidding - the mail was not from NSERC! I don't think anybody is getting any mail today!

There are two ways to find about the CGS/PGS results: in a snail mail letter from NSERC, or Grad Studies at your university may email you.
-
Maybe not, but they did keep telling everyone who emailed them that letters would not go out until after the 29th, right?
-
I'm not sure Ottawa University really knew before anyone else... I think that the guy who got the CGS likely had a PGS that got upgraded to a CGS (this happened to my friend, and it was at about the same time of year 2 years ago), and the francophonePhD guy likely got a PDF but accidentally said CGS.. and maybe the two rejections at Ottawa were inside knowledge or maybe their applications were never forwarded and the university just told them... who knows. NSERC said many times they weren't sending letters until after the budget, so I really think that at least the vast majority of letters haven't been sent.

Well, glad I'm not alone I guess! I really am looking forward to the waiting being over!

I'm happy to see posts in both OFFICIAL languages. How is it fair to always expect french speaking Canadians to write/speak in english when dealing with english speaking Canadians, and basically never have english speaking Canadians outside Quebec or Ontario (or small pockets in other provinces) write/speak in French? It is my problem I'm not confident in my french, but I am super tired of expecting french speaking Canadians to speak english for my benefit, it is embarrassing!
-
Yeah, for sure. From everyone who has posted saying they have contacted NSERC, the result is always the same - nothing until after the budget. Here is hoping NSERC is spared from serious cuts - all reporting indicated the budget will implement severe cuts. Fingers crossed for all of us!
-
Thanks for this! Maybe only the Andre Hamer CGS recipients have gotten letters or something?
-
Hoping to have a letter sometime soon here in BC! I'm also waiting on the Vanier results - I'd be happy with any award! Fingers crossed!
-
Vivaldi - in 2009, a friend of mine was first awarded the NSERC CGSD, and then got notification of the Vanier CGS a few weeks later, so he declined the NSERC CGSD. My understanding is that both can be awarded, but only one taken up. It makes sense, in the instance that if one applied for both, and got awarded both, but then decided they didn't want to go to the school that nominated them for the Vanier, since the Vanier isn't transferable, it would be possible to then decline the Vanier and take up the NSERC at another school.

Your university should have told you if they were forwarding or not. Ask your Faculty/College of Graduate Studies if you are unclear.

The names of the successful NSERC USRA students at my university were circulated last week, but yes, hopefully the graduate results are on their way!
-
I just found this forum... I'm in ecology! And yes, I follow most of the blogs you mentioned.

I may have said this before... in the 2009 competition (2010 award year) I received notification on March 26th directly from Grad Studies at my university (in BC) and then got the letter later that week (I think). So, I'm hoping we here out west at least hear next week, but I am obviously eager to hear when others are notified, or I wouldn't be on here!
