If I get rejected from both of my dream schools, I will be pretty shattered...I'm not sure what I'll be able to do except cry. I really tried my absolute BEST to be a strong candidate, and I'm a good fit with the faculty at both places, plus they are MA programs, not PhD programs. In my less rational moments, I am sure that being rejected from these two schools will mean that I am the lowest, stupidest form of human life. And unfortunately, I can't even drink away my sorrows, because I'm a sad drunk! Kate

In my field, there have been no admits or rejects to my top choice schools...it's really been messing up my life! I hate this wait!

Red Bull, I'm also doing Islamic studies! Do you mind me asking which program? I'm waiting anxiously for MA decisions, was yours a PhD admit? and of course, congrats!

In the last 3 months, no joke, I have spent probably 1 week straight of my life on this website, if you tabulate all the seconds, minutes and hours. But since I got into 2 schools for PhDs the frenzy has subsided a bit. Now I just spend maybe 5 minutes per hour on here, instead of 5 hours at a time. lol.

It was 4:00 on a beautiful, sunny california winter Friday, and I was on my front porch reading a romance novel and eating chocolate. I walk into the house to get away from the sun, and check my email (which is compulsive now, btw). I look and I see two emails, one from the POI at UCSB and the other from the DGS at UCLA, and I almost don't open them, because I'm so sun dazed. But then I do and I see-I got fully funded into 2 of the best Phd History programs in America! And I did such a happy dance that I pulled a muscle in my back, and I kissed my grandma and called everyone!!!

I'm applying into PhD programs straight from undergrad, and also to MA programs just to be safe. But i'm a non-traditional applicant, and I'm also a bit older than the average college graduate!

Bukharan, I found out early because I have 'ins' in both departments. You are absolutely not at all out of the running!! They will send out waves of decisions some time this week, so keep your fingers crossed! I specialize in gender and modern, you? Wannabee, CONGRATULATIONS! Did you do a happy dance? I pulled a muscle in my back from my happy dance, lol!
