  1. Hopefully...except, right now my main goal is to wait for another hour, then contact the appropriate offices and negotiate. It seems quite impossible at the undergrad. level, but more leeway in postgraduate level. Still nervous... Edit: Was told to email the director of my program...Which I did, so all I can do now is wait...
  2. Would it be wise to phone the admissions director directly? Or would it be better to be transferred via the admissions secretary? And, I'm thinking of calling at 10:10 a.m. London time...God, nervous-wreck right now...and losing sleep... Edit: But thank you, it does give me some confidence. We will just have to see. (Do you sort of just make your appeal like a mini-interview with the director?)
  3. Um, I kind of have a situation that I need some guidance from the GradCafe experts (although keeping most of it private/anonymous). So, I have a conditional offer from my dream uni. however, there is no possible way for me to achieve the CGPA listed under the condition. Other than that, I have no other issues, from funding...etc. So, what should I do? What can I do? Right now, my only solution is to call the head admissions director to try and explain my case and appeal for a lowered conditional offer (or outright decline...so at least I can move on to my other apps.) Really shaken up and nervous...Don't know how to go about this...and yea, I've read a couple of other threads from Google, but I wanted to hear a few others from GradCafe. Thxl.

  6. Yup, my damage control has ended. And, whatever happens happens. But, hopefully, everything works out in the end. Now...if I can get my LoR issues resolved...

  11. Got one of those, "Away for the Holidays msg."---Jan. 10th huh...That's past the deadline Orz... Oh well, we'll see how it turns out...
  12. I'm just afraid it might be embarassing and in the long run hurt my chances if I can't switch applications... But, I guess I'll send an email and ask? Edit: Instead of asking the current grad. dept. desk that I applied to, I asked the grad. dept. I want to be considered for...
  13. Over the short---What, week and a half that I've been active, I've noticed that I am here mainly for answers to technical issues, minor applications questions...etc. Haven't used GradCafe for actually bettering my application, that's what my uni's writing support...etc. is for. Here, the validation and support from fellow applicants gives prospective graduates assurance, and I think it's that assurance (as well as grad. info---) that brings a lot of people over here instead of college confidential. PS---Not a lit. applicant---Just feedback for gradcafe...

  15. Was wondering, is it possible/feasible to request a school to switch your application in-between departments? For example, (hypothetical) if Georgetown has a MS Foreign Service in SFS but also a MA Int'l. Relations in their Arts & Sciences, could you request the grad. admissions to transfer your application from one to the other for consideration? (I think I may have been confused by one of the programs for a certain uni. and so applied to the wrong dept.-- Looks like I'm making a lot of minor errors )
  16. Hmm---Not sure, maybe because there was a second selection to my app? I wasn't paying attention too closely.. Maybe...still, two apps would be $150... I guess I'll email them... Edit: Yea, I think it's a mistake on my part. I will email them to see if they can refund me for the 2nd application.
  17. I know it sounds horrible...But eh, sometimes I wish the pool of applicants this year are less fortunate (read poor) and more intellectually inept (read dumb) But, $225 & $415---It's really high...What if I'm just a student without a job you know?
  18. Muahahaha....That's hilarious....I'm gonna used that phrase from now on... "Hey...blah blah blah....are you attracted to poverty?"

  23. But $225---Seriously? That's deviating pretty far from the norm...Oh well. (I think I had originally intended to ask about why UK schools don't really have application fees for many unis)...
  24. Seriously, I have no idea. Which is why I'm trying to find out what the basis for these fees are...
  25. To each their own I guess, I just finished finals today---So, don't really bother explaining. Doesn't mean I'm saying your wrong either though
