  1. Some MPH admissions decisions went up on results page today... still no PhD decisions!
  2. I applied to 5 and they're all very competitive as well. An acceptance would be very nice.
  3. I am wondering about this too. I doubt it'll have significant impact on admissions, but it could be used as a tie-breaker.
  4. January is almost over! Hurray for a short month coming up. Any of you watched The Big Bang Theory? Amazing show.
  5. I hate Pandemic 2... someone sneezes in Brazil and Madagascar shuts down its ports IMMEDIATELY.
  6. I give up around 5pm. My cell phone notifications of emails eased the anxiety of checking my email a lot hahaha.
  7. Nah, I couldn't find anything about PhD public health programs.
  8. Snow storm where I live. Blah, I just find it really difficult to concentrate on school work while waiting for these life-changing decisions to be made. At least January seemed to have passed by quicker than expected!
  9. I don't get it... why do some departments take so long to make a decision while other departments within the same university are so quick on the ball? Are they waiting for something, like funding perhaps?
  10. Last night I had a dream that I received my first rejection and it was from Emory. It was so real and I was really depressed... but then I woke up and realized I didn't even apply to Emory. It must've been their ridiculous 5 spots and over 100 applicants blurb I read from the results page that triggered that dream. If you guys are applying to MPH, there's a good forum where people are posting results already: http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=597283
  11. Any word from JHU? I have this gut feeling that acceptances will be mailed out this week.
  12. I signed up for hotmail to send instant messages to my cell phone whenever I get email. Now I know what email I get even if I am sitting in class! WOOHOO!
  13. Reviving this thread so I don't clutter the forum with a new one. I have a few questions regarding CV material: 1. Are acknowledgments in publications CV inclusion worthy? I am under the impression they are not. 2. Let's say you presented at a conference and also had your abstract from that conference published. I've seen people with an "abstracts" section and "conference presentations" section. Is it the norm to include both the presentation and published abstract in your CV or just one of the two? Thanks!
  14. Mail comes on Saturdays?
  15. Do you guys know if admissions decisions are usually posted on the ApplyYourself page or is it some separate website?
  16. I thought JHU notifies online? But yeah, entirely possible the first round admissions for PhD are made this week. Past notices came around this time as well! I'm nervous.
  17. How did that happen?
  18. http://utopia.swirve.com/index.php I played this game in high school and then again for a summer after graduating undergrad. haha, good times, I ruled my kingdom like a true tyrant.
  19. I am going to punch a hole through the wall, but the closest thing on the poll was "Scream".
  20. edit: brain fart... ignore lol, I thought max GRE score was 1500 and was surprised to see someone voting in the 1501+ category. Baaaa, I need sleep.
  21. You might as well make a GPA poll too
  22. How did you decide on those age intervals? lol
  23. I haven't told anyone my top choice.
  24. Hello! Yep, there's only 40 schools of public health in USA. In terms of admission rates, the "top schools" go from 5 to 30%. I guess that's not too bad, considering, but what bothers me is that I have no idea what the playing field is like. There's hardly any resources out there for this type of program (mostly MPH stuff). I don't think there will be significant job losses in this sector, but there may be hiring freezes (esp. government), so perhaps more MPH applicants this year applying for backup in case they don't find jobs? PhD is a big investment and I doubt the applicant numbers will jump much. No evidence to back that up though; it's all uninformed speculation by me lol. From the results page, it looks like JHU and Yale notify pretty early. Late Jan.? At least nowadays the notifications come by email rather than mail.
