Even if you do not hear from UW today all is not lost. Despite the stated notification the adcomm might be running behind. That actually happened with one of my schools this weekend (not UW though). Interview notifications were supposed to be sent this past Sunday but I didn't hear anything. I was distraught by that night. I called Tuesday, afraid that my application was overlooked because it might be incomplete (there has been a transcript issue). I was not only reassured that my application was reviewed but the adcomm was still making decisions. They're probably just running behind. It doesn't really make waiting any easier, but the adcomm probably had a ton of applications.

Your (eventual) school might require you to fill one out. I received full funding for my masters but I still needed to fill one out (and again for the second year).

Oh dear. If you google my real name and field, the top result is my twitter account. I just went over to my twitter account to delete a tweet. It expressed my hatred for one school's application (which incidentally is also at the top of my list). I think I'm going to make it a private account.

Perhaps it's just M.A. music programs. I'm applying to musicology PhD programs and I think I had one application deadline late like that. But for that same school I found deadlines that were much earlier for assistantships and fellowships. So instead of April or March, I was aiming for January 2nd. Two other schools I'm applying to also had an earlier deadline for "priority" [one school's term] consideration for financial aid. January 2nd was my latest deadline, by the way. Earliest was December 1st. You should try to find if there are any deadlines set by the music school/department or even by the university for fellowship and assistantships. Then again, you might already have all of your applications in. Best of luck!

I wanted something simple. I re-watched Forrest Gump earlier that day so I still had that kicking around my head. Like this line: There was Dallas, from Phoenix; Cleveland - he was from Detroit; and Tex... well, I don't remember where Tex come from. I was born in Texas but didn't stay too long. I've lived the majority of my life in Florida (even stayed for college and grad school if you can believe that). But sure... you could say that I "come from" Texas. My avatar is from part of a painting by Salvador Dalí, The Discovery of America by Christopher Columbus. It's a humongous work but this is the focal point. Regardless of my views of the real Columbus, I really like this young and heroic Columbus pulling his ship towards shore. Grad school sometimes feels like a heroic struggle.
