Any news from anyone yet?!!
-
Hey light, yes I applied too. Just checked online and yes it says they will be mailing out decisions this week. I'm an international though so it could take up to 3 weeks to reach me! :x
-
No, I was just thinking the same. Surely by the end of this week?! :?

I'm in the same boat as all you guys. Accepted to UGA via email on Feb 6th and received official letter last week (I'm an international). Was told in an email that their budget has been severely cut this year and there are "very limited assistantships" on offer with "tougher competition" than usual. The following is from their website and suggests we may be waiting a while for funding info ... Late February: Exceptionally well qualified applicants are nominated for a limited number of Graduate School Assistantships Early March: Winners of Graduate School Assistantships are notified. All recipients are assigned as research assistants in the Departments of Political Science or International Affairs. Mid-March: Round 1 SPIA assistantships are awarded to new students. Winners will receive details later regarding their teaching or research assignment. All applicants awarded support in March have until April 15 to decide whether to accept the assistantship offer. Mid-April: Round 2 SPIA assistantships are awarded to students from a pool of applicants including both current and new students without funding. Deadlines for decisions in this and subsequent rounds of awards are generally two to three weeks. May-June: Awarding of SPIA assistantships continues until all funds are exhausted. The Graduate School normally issues partial tuition waivers during this time to applicants who are not Georgia residents. To be considered for these waivers, students must be nominated by their department.

Which program did you apply for golonghorns? I applied to the MGPS and hope we hear back soon!!
-
Haha! I could so easily have done that especially as I applied to both schools too. I wouldn't worry though, I reckon that must happen quite often!
-
I hope we hear soon! Is it too early to give up hope on hearing today?

William & Mary is a very prestigious school for undergrad but I'm not really sure how strong its reputation for Public Policy is. I haven't seen much on here about it but it's close to DC and has regular (weekly?) trips there to meet (and presumably network) with policymakers. The website says that on average 75 apply per year and 25 are enrolled. Average GPA is 3.5 and GRE scores are 580V, 690Q, 4.5AW. Looks to be pretty generous with funding judging from the website. Would be great to hear some more info from someone who knows about the program!

Anyone else applied to the MPP at W&M?! Last year they notified on the last Tuesday of Feb so here's hoping we hear something today ...
-
Did anyone here apply to the MPIA at Pittsburgh with a concentration in security & intelligence? Looks like they started notifying around this week last year so hopefully we should hear soon ... Also applied to other security studies programs including Georgetown SSP and Texas A&M's MPIA ...

I looked on the Internet Archive and the mid-march bit has been there for a year or two, so it's not something new to this year. Hopefully this means we should be hearing back next week or even tomorrow!

Bump. As an international student am really interested in hearing some answers to this ...
-
Also waiting to hear from the LBJ School re the MGPS, I'm sooooo impatient! From the looks of last year's acceptances on gradcafe we could hope to hear by the end of next week. Where did you guys get the Feb 20th date from?
-
No, but they did add the 'certificate of finances' form that they want me to fill in (for a visa) to my list of pending documents ...
-
Thanks for all the well wishes guys! Just to say that mine was for the MA so I'm sure there are quite a few PHD places to be given out shortly. I noticed that a PHD admission went up yesterday ... Good luck!
-
Received this email this evening: "Congratulations! You have been recommended by Political Science for admission to the Graduate School of The University of Georgia. The Office of Graduate Admissions cannot proceed with the final acceptance, however, because your file is incomplete. Please send the following information to complete your application." Pretty sure that means I'm in right?! I have to submit a form about finances as I'm an international. No word on funding as of yet ... Good luck to all you other UGA guys!!
-
I also applied to UGA (albeit for the MA) and mine is the same. Was 'updated' yesterday by 'CLB' although no information has been added of changed. It's happened a couple of times and I always get really excited each time! I thought I might have heard something by now as the polsci website suggests they meet every week in the spring to review completed apps and mine has been complete since December. Looking at past years it looks like they notify using post, so who knows ...
-
Thanks rlayla, good luck to you too! I've also applied to UChicago's CIR program too! In fact, I've applied to 9 masters programs - as an international student I feel a PHD is too big a step just at this time - but the only ones that are strictly pol sci are Georgia and VA Tech.
-
Hey y'all! I know most people here are applying to PHD programs, but I wondered if anyone was applying to MA programs in Political Science? I've applied to the MA programs at the University of Georgia and Virginia Tech. Does anyone know more information about these programs and when we are likely to hear from them?! Thanks!
